Wildcats Win New England Championships For First Time Since 2019
HOPKINTON, N.H. - UNH won the New England Championships!
Director of Cross Country/Track & Field Anna Magle-Haberek and Assistant Coach Alison Duffy couldn't have been prouder of the day's success.
"This women's team is really exciting - bringing home our first New England Championship since 2019 after finishing 4th last year shows how far this team has come," Magle-Haberek said, "We ran as a tight pack with 7 women finishing under 19 minutes. Our front pack was led by Gabby DeAngelis finishing 5th overall with a 42-second PR."
"These women are a solid team unit that empowers each other," Duffy said, "They executed this race beautifully and powerfully and we are all celebrating their hard work."
Graduate Student Gabby DeAngelis (Bedford N.H.) led the Wildcats with a fifth-place finish out of 198 runners as the University of New Hampshire women's cross country team competed in the New England Championships 5K race. The team finished in first place (70 points) out of 19 at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds. This is the first time UNH has won the New England Championships since 2019.
