Q&A WITH JACKSON
Coming from an athletic background, how easily did hockey come to you at a young age?
I wouldn't say it came easily; my parents allowed me to try any sport that I wanted so I played just about everything growing up. Hockey was the one that was the most fun for me, so I stuck with it.
You've been credited with having a strong grasp on the mental side of hockey. How has that mindset contributed to your success at the elite college level?
I think being mentally strong is super important at this level and it is something we talk about as a team a lot. I think watching hockey and studying what the guys at the NHL level are doing and then adding that into your game can be super impactful.
Why is Kobe Bryant your role model?
I think Kobe Bryant defined what it means to give everything to your sport and he was probably the hardest working athlete during his time. He was just an athlete that was super easy to look up to and model after because he did all of the little things right and outworked everyone else and never took no for an answer.
Now that you're on the back half of your college hockey career, what's the dream? Feel free to elaborate.
The dream is to win a Hockey East championship and a national championship. I think just about every athlete playing college hockey would agree with me on that.
What has been your most memorable moment (on or off the ice) at UNH?
Our trip to Ireland and Northern Ireland last year was really special. It's a trip that not a lot of people get to make in their lifetime and to be able to play a tournament over there was super cool.
