Carly Wooters, a junior from White Plains, N.Y., helped the UNH women’s lacrosse team record a 12-11 victory at the University of Vermont (April 1) by breaking the 11-11 tie with less than five minutes remaining in regulation and making a defensive stop with 45 seconds on the clock.
Carly scored her second goal of the game at 4:52 when she ripped a shot from the top of the 8-meter under the crossbar, and that proved to be the last goal of the game. She helped ensure that with 45 seconds to play with a stick check that sent the ball to the ground and then scooping up the ball for the caused turnover and ground ball.
The 5-foot-6 midfielder finished the game with three points (two goals, one assist), two ground balls, two caused turnovers, one draw control and a team-high nine shots.
Carly extended her goal and point streaks to six games and she has scored a goal in 10 of 11 games this season. During the current streak, she has tallied 11 goals and five assists for 16 points.
On the team leaderboard, Carly is tied for the lead in assists (seven), ranks second in points (23) and tied for second in goals (16); in other stats, she is No. 1 in both shots (61) and draw controls (23) as well as tied for fourth in caused turnovers.
