Josh Bauer, a sophomore from Bedford, New Hampshire, helped lead the UNH men’s soccer team to a 1-0-1 record last week as the Wildcats defeated Iona College, 3-1 at home Sept. 12 and then played to a scoreless tie at Dartmouth College on Sept. 15.

Josh was honored as the America East Defensive Player of the Week on Monday (Sept. 17).

Josh scored his first goal of the season – third career – to give the Wildcats a 3-1 lead against Iona in the 70^th minute. His back-heel flick into the left side of the net was featured on ESPN’s SportsCenter Top 10.

UNH’s defense, backboned by Josh, yielded just seven shots on goal in the two games.

New Hampshire returns to action this Saturday, Sept. 22 at home for its America East conference opener against UMBC. Start time is 7 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium, and the game will be broadcast on ESPN3.
