Ben Culina joined the University of New Hampshire athletic communications staff in September 2025 as Assistant Director, Athletic Communications, bringing with him a strong background in collegiate sports media and public relations, along with extensive experience across Hockey East institutions and championship events.
Before arriving in Durham, Culina served as an Athletic Communication Assistant at the University of Maine, where he was the secondary contact for the men’s ice hockey program. During his tenure, he managed social media content throughout multiple Hockey East and NCAA postseason runs and provided on-site media support at TD Garden and NCAA Regionals.
Culina also gained experience as am Athletic Communications Intern at Providence College, where he handled game recaps, coordinated in-game media interviews, tracked live statistics, and created analytical materials for the men’s ice hockey program.
In addition, he supported the Hockey East Association as a Media Relations Assistant for multiple championship events and at the 2022 Frozen Four, assisting with media operations and postgame press conferences.
A native of Orono, Maine, Culina earned dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Sports Media and Communication and Public Relations from the University of Rhode Island in 2025.
