Emuobor's Double-Double Leads UNH Past Stonehill, 59-58

DURHAM, N.H. – Junior guard Comeh Emuobor (Raleigh, N.C.) made the go-ahead free throw with 50 seconds remaining and finished with a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds to lift the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team to Wednesday night's 59-58 victory against Stonehill College at Lundholm Gym.
Emuobor made two foul shots with 50 seconds on the clock to transform UNH's one-point deficit into a 57-56 lead. Following a Stonehill turnover, junior guard KiJan Robinson (Apopka, Fla.) was sent to the foul line and made both shots to extend the margin to 59-56 with 16 seconds to play.
Herrman Koffi missed a 3-pointer from the right wing with two seconds left and Ridvan Tutic tipped in the offensive rebound with 0.5 seconds on the clock to trim the deficit to 59-58. UNH passed the ball to the frontcourt, where Robinson came down with possession to end the game.
Emuobor, who led UNH in both points and rebounds, recorded a career-high 10 rebounds as part of his first career double-double. He also had a personal best of four steals. Junior guard Jack Graham (Smithfield, R.I.) and redshirt freshman guard R.J. Kennedy (Fayetteville, Ga.) both scored 10 points.
Tutic led the Skyhawks with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
UNH won its second consecutive game to improve to 4-1 at home and 4-7 overall. Stonehill is 3-9.

FIRST HALF
- There were seven lead changes and four ties in the first half as neither team led by more than four points.
- Kennedy's 3-pointer with 3:47 on the clock gave UNH a 32-28 lead until Raymond Espinal-Guzman made two free throws with 67 seconds left in the first half.
- Kennedy pulled down an offensive rebound and made the layup to push the margin back to four points, 34-30, with 38 to go
- Tutic made a layup with 12 seconds left but Graham beat the clock to send UNH into halftime with a 36-32 lead.
SECOND HALF
- Stonehill closed within a point twice before Kennedy's layup and 3-pointer by Tyler Bike (Merrimack, N.H.) gave New Hampshire a 47-41 lead at 13:47.
- The Skyhawks went on a 7-0 run to surge back in front, 48-47, at 9:05.
- The teams traded scores as neither led by more than two points the rest of the way until Robinson's foul shots with 16 seconds to play
- Stonehill took a 56-54 lead on a driving layup by Rex Sunderland with 1:38 remaining but did not score again until the final second as the Skyhawks committed a turnover on three consecutive possessions.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- Bike led UNH with a career high of four assists and he scored six points.
- Kennedy scored 10 points on an efficient shooting night. He made 4 of 5 field goal attempts, including both 3-point attempts.
- Belal El Shakery (Alexandria, Egypt) finished with four points, seven rebounds, two steals and two blocks.
INSIDE THE STATS
- There were 13 lead changes and nine tie scores in a game that Stonehill's largest lead was four points and UNH's was six.
- UNH committed nine turnovers in comparison to the Skyhawks' 21.
- Stonehill had a 42-32 rebounding advantage that included 10-9 on the offensive glass, but the Wildcats had an 8-6 edge in second-chance points.
- UNH made 11 of 17 free throws (64.7%) but ended the game with five consecutive makes in the last 74 seconds to record the victory.
