Robinson Nets Team-High 16 Points in 76-70 Loss to NJIT

DURHAM, N.H. – Junior guard KiJan Robinson (Apopka, Fla.) scored a team-high 16 points but the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team was defeated 76-70 by NJIT at Lundholm Gym on Thursday night.
Junior guard Comeh Emuobor (Raleigh, N.C.) finished with 15 points and six rebounds while both junior forward Belal El Shakery (Alexandria, Egypt) and freshman guard Tyler Bike (Merrimack, N.H.) netted 10 points. Bike also led the Wildcats with three assists and sophomore forward John Squire (Sausalito, Calif.) pulled down a game-high eight rebounds.
NJIT was led by Sebastian Robinson (23 points) and Ari Fulton (18).
UNH moves to 8-15 overall and 4-6 in America East. NJIT improves to 14-12, 9-2.

FIRST HALF
- There were four ties and two lead changes in the game – all in the first half.
- NJIT inched out to a 7-3 lead before El Shakery made back-to-back layups to level the score at 14:58.
- UNH went on a 10-0 run to transform a five-point deficit into a 17-12 lead at 10:08. Jack Graham (Smithfield, R.I.), Bike and Davide Poser (Veneto, Italy) each hit a 3-pointer during the spurt.
- The Highlanders answered with a 9-2 run to go back in front, 21-19, at 6:42.
- The visitors reestablished a five-point advantage before Robinson's 3-pointer and Emuobor's thunderous dunk tied the score, 28-28, at 4:26.
- NJIT closed the half on an 11-4 run to take a 39-32 lead into halftime.
SECOND HALF
- The Highlanders built the largest lead of the game – 14 points – at 51-37 with 14:50 on the clock.
- Emuobor's three-point play sliced the deficit to 51-44 at 13:03.
- Robinson pulled down a defensive rebound and went coast-to-coast to trim the margin to five points, 53-48, at 10:29.
- NJIT scored the next six points to push the lead back to double digits, 59-48, at 9:07.
- Consecutive 3-pointers by Robinson at 1:14 and Poser with 32 seconds to play lifted the 'Cats within 71-66, and Robinson made another 3-ball with 21 seconds remaining to close the gap to 73-69.
- UNH could get no closer the rest of the way as the Highlanders made 3 of 4 free throws in the closing seconds.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- Squire recorded eight rebounds for the third consecutive game.
- Robinson made 5 of 8 field goal attempts, including 3-for-5 from 3-point range.
- Emuobor was 6 of 11 from the floor.
GAME NOTEBOOK
- UNH finished with a 38-31 rebounding advantage that included 13-5 on the offensive glass, which led to a 10-4 edge in second-chance points.
- NJIT outscored the Wildcats 42-30 in the paint.
