Poser Scores Career-High 24 Points in 65-63 Loss at Binghamton

VESTAL, N.Y. – Junior forward Davide Poser (Veneto, Italy) scored a career-high 24 points but the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team was edged 65-63 by Binghamton University at Dr. Bai Lee Court on Thursday night.
Poser scored all 24 of his points on eight 3-pointers. He also had two rebounds and two assists in 28 minutes.
Freshman guard Tyler Bike (Merrimack N.H.) was the other Wildcat who scored in double digits with 10 points, including three 3-pointers. Redshirt sophomore forward Belal El Shakery (Alexandria, Egypt) recorded a game-high 11 rebounds and six points.
Binghamton was led by Jeremiah Quigley (17 points), Zyier Beverly (14), Jake Blackburn (11), and Jackson Benigni (10).
UNH moves to 8-19 overall and 4-10 in America East while the Bearcats are now 7-23, 3-12.

FIRST HALF
- Binghamton built an early six-point lead, 9-3, at 17:41 and inched out to a 15-8 advantage at 12:55.
- Buoyed by 3-pointers from Jack Graham (Smithfield, R.I.) and Poser, the Wildcats closed within 17-16 at 11:14.
- Poser's third 3-pointer of the half leveled the score, 19-19 at 10:10.
- John Squire (Sausalito, Calif.) made a layup to give UNH its first lead of the game, 21-19, at 9:22 and the 'Cats remained in front the remainder of the half.
- Poser connected again from behind the 3-point line to give UNH a 24-20 lead at 7:53.
- El Shakery drove to the rim for a layup to push the margin to double digits, 31-20l at 4:05.
- Poser's fifth 3-ball of the half gave UNH its largest lead of the game, 34-20, at 1:54.
- Binghamton sliced the deficit to single digits, 34-26, before KiJan Robinson (Apopka, Fla.) made a short jumper with two seconds on the clock to send the Wildcats into halftime with a 36-26 advantage.
SECOND HALF
- Bike connected on a 3-pointer to match UNH's larges lead of the game, 42-28, at 17:49.
- The Bearcats went on an 11-0 run in the next three minutes to narrow the gap to 42-39 at 14:46.
- Poser responded with another 3-pointer at 14:25 to create a 45-39 lead.
- The differential fluctuated between 5-7 points until Benigni made three foul shots to put Binghamton back in front, 51-50, at 10:06.
- The home team surged out to a 64-56 lead at 2:04.
- Poser's eighth 3-pointer capped a 7-0 run that lifted UNH within 64-63 with 51 seconds on the clock.
- Beverly was sent to the foul line for a pair of shots with 21 seconds left. He made the first and missed the second with Poser pulling down the defensive rebound.
- The Wildcats called their full timeout with 13 seconds remaining and missed a 3-point attempt with two seconds left to end the game with Binghamton on top, 65-63.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- This was Poser's first 20+ scoring effort of his career. He scored his previous best of 19 points on Nov. 20, 2024 vs. Endicott.
- His previous high of five 3-pointers was also in that game.
- El Shakery recorded 10+ rebounds for the eighth time this season.
- He has been the team's top rebounder in 18 of 27 games.
- Bike and Robinson tied for the team lead with three assists.
- Squire was credited with a career-high three steals. He also had five points, four rebounds and two assists.
GAME NOTEBOOK
- Binghamton made 8 of 11 free throws (72.7%) in comparison to UNH's 7-for-13 (53.8%).
- UNH recorded a 36-33 rebounding advantage that included 14-4 on the offensive glass, but the Wildcats had only a 7-3 edge in second-chance points.
- UNH outscored the hosts 36-15 on 3-pointers, whereas the Bearcats had a 40-20 edge in the paint.
- Both teams held the lead for 19 minutes in a game that saw three ties and two lead changes.
