Emuobor Scores 12 Points, UNH Toppled by Vermont

BURLINGTON, Vt. – Junior guard Comeh Emuobor (Raleigh, N.C.) recorded 12 points and six rebounds as the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team was toppled 80-57 by the University of Vermont at Patrick Gym on Saturday afternoon.
Junior forward Belal El Shakery (Alexandria, Egypt) and freshman guard Tyler Bike (Merrimack, N.H.) both scored 10 points. El Shakery also pulled down seven rebounds. Sophomore forward John Squire (Sausalito, Calif.) finished with a team-high eight rebounds.
UVM's four double-digit scorers were led by Ben Johnson with 26 points. He was followed by Gus Yalden (16), TJ Hurley (13) and Sean Blake (11), who had a game-high seven assists.
UNH moves to 8-14 overall and 4-5 in America East. Vermont improves to 15-10, 7-3.

FIRST HALF
- Hurley's 3-pointer gave UVM a 3-0 lead at 17:41 and the Catamounts led the rest of the way.
- The home team raced out to a 13-2 lead before UNH inched back within 13-6 on a driving layup by Jack Graham (Smithfield, R.I.) and two free throws by KiJan Robinson (Apopka, Fla.).
- UVM went on a 12-0 run to open up a 40-15 lead at 3:31.
- UNH closed the half on a 10-0 run to trim the deficit to 42-29.
- Davide Poser (Veneto, Italy) ignited the rally with a 3-pointer (at 1:57) and driving layup (1:11). Graham followed with at 3-pointer with 35 seconds on the clock and Emuobor's driving layup beat the halftime buzzer.
SECOND HALF
- Emuobor also opened up the second half with a layup to lift the Wildcats within 42-31.
- Vermont answered with a 15-2 spurt to extend the advantage to 57-33 at 15:25.
- UVM's 15-0 run pushed the margin to 78-42 at 7:13.
- The Wildcats finished the last three minutes of the game on an 8-0 run.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- Emuobor has been UNH's top scorer in five games this season.
- Squire has led the Wildcats in rebounds five times.
- He pulled down eight boards for the second consecutive game.
- Poser, who scored all five of his points in a 45-second span, had a team-high two assists.
GAME NOTEBOOK
- UVM shot 45.2% (28-62) from the floor in comparison to UNH's .380 field goal percentage (19-50).
- The Catamounts had a 40-32 edge on the glass.
- UNH outscored UVM 28-24 in the paint.
