Félix Gagnon scored two goals on the night including overtime winner
DURHAM, N.H. – Freshman forward Félix Gagnon (Jonquière, Quebec) recorded two goals on the night including the game winner in overtime as the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team defeated LIU, 3-2, on Friday night in the home opener at the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex.
Freshman defenseman Ryan Philbrick (Concord, N.H.) scored his first collegiate goal and also add an assist for two points, while junior forward Nick Ring (Hingham, Mass.) posted two assists for two points.
Senior goalie Kyle Chauvette (Goffstown, N.H.) posted 25 saves to earn the win.
The Wildcats advance to 2-2-0, while the Sharks fall to 1-5-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- At 15:55 of the first period, Philbrick netted his first collegiate goal, putting the 'Cats on the board first as he fired in a rebound off a shot by Ring. Senior forward Cy LeClerc (Brentwood, N.H.) also tallied an assist on the goal.

- Just a minute later, LIU responded when Dylan Kinch knocked in a rebound off a shot by Sixten Jennersjö to tie it up 1-1.
- With only 38 seconds remaining in the period, UNH reclaimed the lead. Freshman forward Jacob Newcombe (Sambro, Nova Scotia) set up graduate student forward Jack Cronin (South Hamilton, Mass.) who fired a shot which was tapped in by Gagnon to make it 2-1 heading into the first intermission.

- At 6:41 of the second period, Kinch scored his second goal of the game when he found the back of the net on a breakaway to tie contest at 2-2.
- Neither team found the back of the net in the third period, pushing the game into overtime.
- With 3:05 on the clock in overtime, Gagnon sent a shot from the slot to the upper glove side corner of the net to give the Wildcats the win. Ring and Philbrick each posted an assist.
