DURHAM, N.H. – Six Wildcats of the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team have been named to the 2024 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team. The honorees include redshirt senior forward Chloe DeLyser (Marion, N.Y.), senior forward Meghan Guarente (Sewell, N.J.), graduate midfielder Anna Hewlett (Webster, N.Y.), senior defender Megan Logue (Oak Hills, Calif.), junior midfielder Abbi Maier (Cincinnati, Ohio), and redshirt junior goalkeeper Sally Rainey (Lebanon, N.H.).
The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. At 12-5-1, the 'Cats matched the program record for wins, originally set in 1988.
DeLyser, a human development & family studies major with a 3.81 GPA, is a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She appeared in 17 games this season, starting two, and logged 361 minutes. She recorded seven shots, four of which were on goal.
Guarente, a nursing major with a 3.79 GPA, was named America East Striker of the Year, becoming just the fourth Wildcat to earn this distinction. She led the conference with six game-winning goals, a mark that ranked fourth nationally. Her 10 goals were the most among strikers, and she ranked third in the conference in total points with 21. She tallied multiple points in eight games this season. Guarente, a repeat honoree, was also named to the America East All-Academic Team for the third consecutive year and All-Conference First Team. She is also a CSC Academic All-America finalist and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members.
Hewlett, a co-captain and two-time honoree, is an exercise science major with a 3.77 GPA. The New York native played in 17 games this season, starting in 14, and logged a full 90 in 12 matches. She contributed one goal and three assists, recording at least one point in four different matches—all Wildcat victories.
Logue, a nutrition: health & wellness major with a 3.91 GPA, started all 17 games and logged 1,460 minutes as a key member of UNH's backline. She helped the Wildcats allow the fewest goals in the conference (10) and achieve the league's best goals-against average, which ranked 15th nationally. Logue also played a critical role in UNH's nine shutouts, as the defense limited opponents to just 8.1 shots per game with only 3.9 on target.
Maier, a health sciences major with a 3.97 GPA, earned her second consecutive CSC Academic All-District honor. Named to the All-Championship Team, Maier scored a crucial goal in UNH's 3-1 semifinal win over Binghamton. She tallied nine points on the season with four goals and one assist, including a season-high three points (one goal, one assist) in a season-opening win against Stonehill. She scored in three additional matches, all of which were Wildcat victories. Maier appeared in 17 games, starting 11.
For the second consecutive season, the co-captain Rainey was named America East Goalkeeper of the Year. She is the only UNH goalie to win back-to-back Goalkeeper of the Year awards and the fourth overall in conference history to do so. A communication sciences & disorders major with a 3.88 GPA, she played a crucial role in goal for the Wildcats, compiling 52 saves over 1,440 minutes, highlighted by a career-high nine saves in a tie against Louisville.
She led the America East in shutouts with nine, including five against conference opponents, while holding the top GAA (0.625) and save percentage (.839). Nationally, she ranked 20th in GAA and 22nd in shutouts. Rainey, co-President of SAAC, has been named to Academic All-District, All-Conference First Team and All-Academic Team each of the past two years. She is also a CSC Academic All-America finalist and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members.
