NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – Sophomore Mackenzie MacEachern (Bedford, N.H.) recorded four goals and three assists to propel the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team to Saturday afternoon's 20-4 victory against Central Connecticut State University at Arute Field.
The four goals, three assist and seven points are all career highs for MacEachern. Senior Emily Curtis (Walpole, Mass.) and junior Liv Dunn (Newbury, Mass.) both tallied five points; Curtis finished with four goals and one assist while Dunn had two goals and three assists.
Senior captain Delaney Pratt (Lafayette, Colo.) had career highs in both goals and points with her four-goal game. Sophomore Kelsey MacCallum (Franklin, Mass.) also tallied four points with a goal and personal-best three assists.
All three UNH goalkeepers saw action. Freshman Maria Hagan (Downers Grove, Ill.) got the start and was credited with one save, three goals allowed and the win in 24:55 of action. Senior Issy Torres (Elmhurst, Ill.), who entered the game with 4:16 remaining in the first half, stopped 3 of 4 shots on goal in 30:03. In her collegiate debut, freshman Danielle Martineau (Gilford, N.H.) made one save and did not allow a goal in the final 4:13 of the game.
CCSU starting goalie Kya Risher made 13 saves and allowed 19 goals in 53:20. Adrianna Richards played the last 6:40 and surrendered one goal.
UNH won its second consecutive game to improve to 3-0 on the road and 3-3 overall. CCSU is 0-4.
"Every player on the team contributed today which is always a great feeling," UNH first-year head coach Kacie Lewis said. "We were able to focus on a lot of aspects of our game. Ground balls, draw controls and shot production were areas of improvement from previous games that we execute well today. We had five players with four or more points and a very consistent and controlled defense."
