Torres Makes Career-High 15 Saves in 11-3 Loss to Dartmouth

DURHAM, N.H. – Senior goalkeeper Issy Torres (Elmhurst, Ill.) made a career-high 15 saves, but the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team was defeated 11-3 by Dartmouth College at Wildcat Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Torres made six saves in the first quarter, followed by three saves each subsequent quarter for her career high total of 15. She was also credited with two ground balls. Junior attack Liv Dunn (Newbury, Mass.) scored two goals.
Katie Elders scored three goals to lead four Big Green players with multiple points. Tamer Luzi played the first half and was not credited with a save; she allowed three goals. Gisele Todd played the second half and stopped all three shots on goal.
UNH is now 0-2 and Dartmouth is 1-0.

FIRST QUARTER
- UNH outscored the Big Green 2-1 in the first quarter despite the visitor's 7-2 shot advantage.
- Dunn gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead at 12:13.
- Torres denied Maggie O'Gorman at 11:51 and then Jev Ward at 10:18 to preserve New Hampshire's one-goal advantage.
- Ava Schroeder (Niskayuna, N.Y.) caused a turnover and corralled the ground ball to give UNH possession at 8:36, and that led to Dunn's second goal of the game and a 2-0 lead at 8:11.
- Torres made the save on Lucy Murray's free-position shot at 6:06, but DC maintained possession and Elders struck at 5:06 to lift the Big Green within 2-1.
- Torres also stopped Anna Griffith on a free position at 2:22 and also denied Ward on the extended possession at 1:47.
SECOND QUARTER
- Dartmouth recorded a 13-1 shot advantage and outscored UNH 4-1 in the second quarter to take a 5-3 lead into halftime.
- Elders scored consecutive goals 50 seconds apart at 7:52 and 7:02 to give the Big Green a 3-2 lead it would not relinquish.
- Griffith netted a free-position goal at 6:00 and then Murray struck at 4:10 to extend DC's run to five consecutive goals and a 5-2 lead.
- Sophomore Kailee Woods (Rocky Point, N.Y.) finished a feed from freshman Allie Connerty (Norwell, Mass.) with 1:41 remaining in the half to lift the 'Cats within 5-3.
THIRD QUARTER
- New Hampshire's Mackenzie MacEachern (Bedford, N.H.) controlled the opening draw of the second half, but the Wildcats committed a turnover and that led to Ward's goal and a 6-3 Dartmouth lead at 12:42.
- Maja Desmond scored 88 seconds later to push the advantage to 7-3 at 11:14.
- Katina Christensen extended the margin to 8-3 at 7:18.
FOURTH QUARTER
- Murray scored her second goal of the game for a 9-3 advantage at 14:28.
- Christensen then netter her second goal of the game at 6:11.
- Desmond's second goal closed the scoring with 1:48 remaining.
GAME NOTEBOOK
- Dartmouth finished with the edge in shots (34-7), draw controls (12-6) and ground balls (25-17).
- The Big Green also committed 15 turnovers in comparison to UNH's 26.
- DC scored on 2 of 4 free-position shots; the Wildcats were 0-for-1.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- Dunn has two multiple-point efforts in as many games this season. She finished with a goal and two assists in the season opener vs. Siena College.
- Dunn has five points on three goals and two assists.
- Connerty has recorded an assist in both games this season.
- Woods scored her first goal of the season and sixth career. She was also credited with one ground ball, one draw control and one caused turnover.
- Sophomore Jesslyn Hounchell (Manchester, N.H.) led UNH in both ground balls (three) and caused turnovers (two). The three GBs matched a personal best and the two CTOs are a career high.
- Hounchell also had one draw control.
