Dunn Records Three Points in Season-Opening 18-6 Loss to Siena

DURHAM, N.H. – Junior Liv Dunn (Newbury, Mass.) recorded a team-high three points but the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team was defeated 18-6 by Siena College in Saturday afternoon's season opener at Wildcat Stadium.
Dunn finished with one goal and two assists. Senior Emily Curtis (Walpole, Mass.) and sophomore Mackenzie MacEachern (Bedford, N.H.) also recorded multiple points; Curtis tallied two goals and MacEachern had a goal and an assist.
Starting goalkeeper freshman Maria Hagan (Downers Grove, Ill.) allowed 10 goals and was credited with three saves in a total of 33 minutes, 32 seconds. Senior Issy Torres (Elmhurst, Ill.) stopped 3 of 11 shots on goal in 26:28.
Siena was led offensively by Nicole McNeely (three goals, three assists); both Jordan Bentley and Meghan Decker finished with three goals and an assist; both Kelsey Lane and Grace Dobrzynski netted three goals.
Starting goalie Ally Mervine made 10 saves and allowed six goals; Sabrina Krasner played the fourth quarter and did not face a shot on goal.

FIRST QUARTER
- Siena recorded a 9-7 shot advantage and utilized a 4-0 run to lead 4-2 through 15 minutes.
- UNH struck first at 13:59 when Curtis finished a feed from freshman Allie Connerty (Norwell, Mass.).
- McNeely then set up goals by Dobrzynski and Lane at 11:26 and 9:49, respectively, and scored at 8:44 to give the Saints a lead they would not relinquish.
- Lane's player-up goal at 4:20 extended Siena's lead to 4-1.
- Senior captain Delaney Pratt (Lafayette, Colo.) broke the run by beating the clock on a goal with four seconds on the clock.
SECOND QUARTER
- The shot differential was the smallest of margins in favor of Siena (8-7), but the Saints outscored UNH 7-3 in the second quarter.
- Siena reeled off five consecutive goals in 3 minutes, 39 seconds to quickly push the lead to 9-2 at 10:37.
- Torres entered the game at 11:28 with the score 8-2 and played the rest of the half.
- MacEachern and Dunn scored goals 29 seconds apart to quickly lift the 'Cats within 9-4 at 9:38.
- Decker ended a scoring drought by both teams at 2:35 to give the Saints at 10-4 lead.
- Senior Abby Cranney (Amherst, N.H.) struck at 1:32, but then Laura Bonomo scored with 28 seconds left in the half to send the visitors to halftime with an 11-5 lead.
THIRD QUARTER
- Siena outscored UNH 4-1 with a 10-4 edge in shots in the third quarter.
- Curtis converted a free position into a goal to open the second-half scoring at 12:50.
- The Saints responded at 11:28 on Decker's third goal of the game and slowly pulled away with goals at 6:11, 3:53, 2:10 and 50 seconds.
FOURTH QUARTER
- Siena scored the only two goals of the fourth quarter.
- Hagan reentered the game in goal for the Wildcats at the start of the final frame.
GAME NOTEBOOK
- Siena finished with the edge in shots (33-18), draw controls (15-12) and ground balls (7-6).
- The Saints also committed one less turnover – seven in comparison to UNH's eight.
- Siena was a perfect 12-for-12 on clear attempts; the 'Cats were 9 of 11.
- UNH scored on 1 of 5 free-position shots; the Saints were 0-for-3.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- In addition to Hagan and Connerty, freshmen Jordan Davis (Redondo Beach, Calif.) and Emma Magazu (Newtown, Conn.) started in their collegiate debuts.
- Connerty recorded a team-high three ground balls and one draw control.
- The assist marked Connerty's first career point.
- Pratt led the 'Cats with six draw controls.
- This was the head coaching debut of UNH first-year head coach Kacie Lewis.
