Masseur, Neyland Score Two Goals Apiece in 22-4 Loss to #6 Stony Brook

DURHAM, N.H. -- Seniors Gabby Masseur (Nashua, N.H.) and Julia Neyland (Boxborough, Mass.) both scored two goals in the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team's 22-4 loss to sixth-ranked Stony Brook University at Wildcat Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Graduate student Rylee Leonard (Coventry, R.I.) recorded an assist on late goal in the second half. Junior goalie Issy Torres (Elmhurst, Ill.) recorded five saves and two ground balls.

Ally Kennedy led Stony Brook in scoring with five goals and Taryn Ohlmiller had a game-high six points with three goals and three assists. Kira Accettella, Kaeli Huff, and Siobhan Rafferty each had three goals. SBU starting goalie Kameron Halsall made four saves and allowed two goals in the first half. Hayley Hunt played the entire second half and also stopped four of six shots on goal.

UNH drops to 3-7 on the year and 2-6 in America East, and will take on the University of Hartford on May 1 (11 a.m.) at Wildcat Stadium for the regular-season finale. Stony Brook improved to 11-2, 7-0 with its 51st consecutive conference win.

- The scoring started at 27:23 when Rafferty, assisted by Ohlmiller, scored to make it 1-0.
- Masseur scored an unassisted goal when she dodged a pair of defenders at the top of the 8-meter to tie the score, 1-1, at 26:50.
- Stony Brook scored four consecutive goals in a five minute span to build a 5-1 lead.
- Kennedy, once again assisted by Ohlmiller, made it 2-1 at 24:58.
- Ohlmiller recorded her third assist in as many SBU goals when Sarah Pulis gave the Seawolves a 3-1 advantage at 24:58.
- Kennedy's second goal of the game pushed the Stony Brook lead to 4-1 at 22:19.
- Bridget Considine's unassisted goal at 20:22 made it 5-1.
- Masseur's initial free-position shot was stopped by Halsall, but she corralled the rebound and scored to trim the deficit to 5-2 at 19:54.
- Stony Brook would then go on a 10-0 run to end the first period.
- Rafferty's goal at 18:37 was assisted by Pulis and gave SBU a 6-2 lead.
- Stony Brook's free-position goal by Kennedy at 15:34 was followed by Accettella's goal 34 seconds later to extend the margin to 8-2.
- Ohlmiller scored back-to-back goals at 12:45 and 9:20 to make the score 10-2.
- The Seawolves score on a free-position shot by Kennedy at 8:40 and Huff, assisted by Rebecca Kinsley, scored 46 seconds later to push the lead to double digits, 12-2, at 7:54.
- Kennedy and Huff netted free-position goals at 6:38 and 4:00, respectively, to advance the score to 14-2.
- Ohlmiller finished a feed from Jesse Arline to beat the horn with two seconds on the clock and make the score 15-2 at the end of the first period.

- Stony Brook opened the second half on a 5-0 run to build a 20-2 advantage at 14:06.
- Rafferty scored at 26:06, followed by Huff at 24:33.
- Hart, who set up Huff's goal, gave the visitors an 18-2 lead at 19:11.
- Goals by Accettella at 16:09 and Ellie Masera at 14:06 pushed the run to 15 consecutive goals and the margin to 20-2.
- On a free position from the right side, Neyland split a pair of defenders to cut to the middle and shot low into the net at 11:36 to push the score to 20-3.
- Accettella struck again at 8:50 and Masera scored a player-up goal at 6:48.
- Leonard charged down the middle of the fan before peeling off to the left of the cage, then found Neyland in front and she scored her second of the game to cap the scoring with 52 seconds remaining.
