SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE: The Wildcats are coming off a season-opening victory against Vermont on Saturday, February 20 (171.5-67.5). Freshman Michaela Herwig (Geneva, Ill.) earned first place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.22) and the 100-yard backstroke. Sophomore Olivia Stille (Stockholm, Sweden) took home first in the 50-yard freestyle (24.24) and the 100-yard free (52.28). Sophomore Jamy Lum (Honolulu, Hawaii) earned top finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.86) and the 500-yard free (5:05.68). Freshman Abby McKinney (Westfield, N.J.) also had a solid collegiate debut for the Wildcats with first place finishes in the 100-yard butterfly (57.69). Senior Meg Carroll (Haverhill, Mass.) finished first in the one meter dive event with 208.42 points and she captured second place in the three meter dive (188.01). The relay teams also had a very solid day with first place finishes in the 200-yard medley (1:47.93) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:38.96).
SCOUTING MAINE: The Black Bears open their season on Saturday against UNH, it's just one of two meets currently on their schedule.
METZLER QUALIFIES FOR NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS: Junior Anna Metzler (Regensburg, Germany) has qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 200 IM and 400 beginning in two weeks in Greensboro, N.C. at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. Metzler will compete in the 200 IM on Thursday, March 18 and the 400 IM on Friday, March 19. The Top 40 in each event qualify, she currently has the 26th best time in the NCAA rankings in the 400 IM. Metzler qualified for the NCAA Championships with a strong showing in the season opener against Vermont at Swasey Pool, setting new pool records in the 200 and 400 individual medley. The All-American posted a 1:59.23 time in the 200 IM and a mark of 4:10.57 in the 400 IM. In 2020, she was to scheduled to compete in the 200 & 400 IM and the 200 back, but the NCAA's were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Entering the NCAA Championships, she recorded the 19th fastest time in the nation in the 400 IM and was the only swimmer in the Top-20 not from a Power Five conference school. Metzler posted the 55th fastest time in the nation in the 200 IM.

Miranda Bacon is a six-time All-America East selection, she placed second at the 2020 America East Championship in the 200 IM and also 100 Breast in the 2019 and 2020 AE Championships. She was also part of the first place 400 Medley Relay team in 2019 at the conference championship. She is a two-time America East All-Academic honoree and a two-time AE Commissioners Honor Roll selection. A Senior Communications Sciences and Disorders major from Scotia, New York.
Meg Carroll recently was named AE Diver of the Week for her first place finish in the one meter dive and her second place finish in the three meter dive in the season-opening meet against Vermont in February. She set personal records in the one and three meter dive on January 29, 2019 at Maine. She is also a 2020 America East Academic Honor Roll selection. She is a Senior, Kinesiology: Exercise Science major from Haverhill, Mass.
Paige Hillis is a three-time All America East honoree. She posted two third-place finished in the 200 back and 400 IM at the 2020 America East Championships and was also part of the 800 free replay team that won gold that same year. Paige is a two-time AE Academic Honor Roll selection and was also named an America East Commissioners Honor Roll selection in 2020. She is a Senior, Business Administration major from Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.
