Experienced club, high school, college coach owns Dive 603d LLC
DURHAM, N.H. — UNH women's swimming and diving head coach Josh Willman announced the hire of Derek Peabody as assistant diving coach, where he will work alongside head coach Dr. Rick Schavone.
Peabody brings more than a decade of coaching experience spanning the club, high school, and collegiate ranks. He is the owner and head coach of Dive 603d LLC, a USA Diving- and AAU-sanctioned club he founded in 2023. Under his leadership, the program has quickly emerged as a competitive presence in New England, producing seven AAU national qualifiers and preparing divers for success at the regional and national levels, with several advancing to collegiate competition.
"We're excited to welcome Derek to our staff because he brings great energy, experience, and a clear vision for developing high-level divers," Willman said.
"His background as a student-athlete and now working with athletes at multiple stages of their development allows him to meet our divers where they are and help them take the next step," Schavone said. "He's going to make a meaningful impact on our diving program right away."
Peabody has coached extensively throughout New Hampshire and Massachusetts, guiding numerous high school athletes to state championships and postseason success. His coaching background also includes work within the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) and a previous collegiate coaching role at Keene State College, where he helped develop divers at the NCAA Division-III level.
As a student-athlete at Keene State, Peabody earned Top‑5 finishes at both the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships and the ECAC Open. He was a four‑time All‑New England honoree, a two‑year team captain, and recorded multiple Top‑5 placements at the MIAA Division I Championships during his high school career at Haverhill (Mass.) High School.
Known for his technical expertise, athlete‑centered coaching style, and proven ability to develop divers from foundational skills to collegiate‑ready competitors, Peabody brings strong energy and a deep developmental background to the Wildcats' diving program.
