Wildcats celebrate Senior Day at Swasey Pool
DURHAM, N.H. — Senior Audrey Mahoney (Downers Grove, Ill.) and sophomore Lydia Hart (Cornwall, Ontario) delivered standout performances, and junior Grace Blume (Dedham, Mass.) swept the diving events, but the UNH swimming and diving team was defeated 166-123 by UConn at Saturday afternoon's Senior Day meet in Swasey Pool.
UConn competed in technical suits, which offered a performance advantage in speed and compression, while UNH (5-2, 1-0 America East) raced in standard competition suits.
Mahoney, celebrating her final home meet in a UNH swimsuit, led the Wildcats with a victory in the 50-yard freestyle (23.15 seconds) and a runner‑up finish in the 100 free (50.60). Hart added a win in the 500 free (4:56.58) and placed fourth in the 200 free earlier in the meet.
Blume swept the boards by virtue of first-place finishes in the 1‑meter (285.00) and 3‑meter (271.05) events.
Emily Loren Wright (Ventura, Calif.), in her final home meet as a Wildcat, picked up a win in the 200 individual medley (2:10.86) and added a third‑place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.54). Junior captain Grace Mahon (Orange, Conn.) won the 100 butterfly (55.53) and placed third in the 200 fly (2:03.83).
UNH closed the meet with a strong showing in the 400 free relay, where the A‑team of Mahoney, Hart, Mahon and junior Sydney Leblic (Madrid, Spain) earned the Wildcats' lone relay win of the afternoon in 3:32.47.
