DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire swimming and diving team earned a 170-111 victory on Senior Day against Maine on Saturday afternoon at Swasey Pool.
The Wildcats won every swimming event on the day vs. the Black Bears.
Sophomore Olivia Stille (Stockholm, Sweden) won multiple events in the 50 (24.47) and 100-yard (52.48) freestyle, while classmate Jamy Lum (Honolulu, Hawaii) was victorious in the 100-yard (1:06.22) and 200-yard (2:21.16) breaststroke.
Freshman Michaela Herwig (Geneva, Ill.) had a good showing in the 500 free with a time of 5:13.81 and also took the top spot in the 100-yard backstroke (59.75).
"We're real pleased with how well our team did today. We had two freshman divers Hannah and Keira really step up today and do well," said UNH Head Coach Josh Willman. "Our sprint group did real well as did our distance swimmers with Paige Edmier, Ciara McCormack and freshman Hannah Devine. We're in a good spot as we prepare for late March with Vermont and move closer to America East's in April."
Sophomore Paige Edmier (Bartlett, Ill.) posted her fastest in-season time in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:42.41.
Freshman Abby McKinney (Westfield, N.J.) was victorious in the 200 free at 1:56.88, while Paige Hillis (Mississauga, Ont.) won the 200-yard backstroke with 2:11.51 mark.
UNH's 200-yard medley relay team earned first place with a time of 1:48.17
The Wildcats honored their three seniors Miranda Bacon (Scotia, N.Y.), Meg Carroll (Haverhill, Mass.) and Hillis in a special pre-meet ceremony in the final home meet of their collegiate careers.
UNH junior Anna Metzler (Regensburg, Germany) didn't compete as she prepares for the upcoming NCAA Championships in the 200 and 400 IM.
