Senior captain posted 50-free time of 22.98 seconds to break Jenny Thompson’s 1989 mark
KINGSTON, R.I. – Senior captain Audrey Mahoney (Downers Grove, Ill.) set the Tootell Aquatics Center pool record in the 50-yard freestyle, a record held for nearly 37 years by former U.S. Olympian Jenny Thompson, to highlight Friday's action in the Harold Anderson Invitational at the University of Rhode Island.
Mahoney won the 50-yard freestyle in 22.98 seconds, shattering the previous pool record of 23.13 set by Thompson, a Dover, N.H. native, on March 11, 1989.

Day 2 Highlights
•Sophomore Marisa White (Apex, N.C.) opened the evening with a victory in the 500-yard freestyle, clocking 4:55.12 to lead the A-final.
•In the 200-yard IM, junior Emily Loren Wright (Ventura, Calif.) placed third in the A-final with a time of 2:05.93, and freshman Kelsey Mayers (Waxhaw, N.C.) followed in fifth at 2:06.96.
•The Wildcats' 200-yard freestyle relay team of Mahoney, freshman Madeline Chen (California, Md.), junior captain Grace Mahon (Orange, Conn.), and sophomore Amelia Labno (Rosemount, Minn.) secured second place in 1:34.89, just behind Vermont's winning squad.
