Patlovich Propels 'Cats Past NJIT, 3-0, on Senior Day

DURHAM, N.H. – Senior setter Emma Patlovich (Lake Forest, Ill.) recorded 30 assists and season-high four service aces to lead the University of New Hampshire volleyball team to a 3-0 victory against NJIT in Saturday afternoon's Senior Day match at Lundholm Gym. The set scores were 25-11, 25-12, 25-17.
Patlovich also recorded one kill (on a .250 hitting percentage) and two blocks to finish with six points, and she also had five digs.
Freshman Hannah Serbousek (Fort Collins, Colo.) finished with a game-high 10 points on seven kills (.429 hitting percentage) and three service aces. Junior Abby Sullivan (Methuen, Mass.) tallied 9.5 points on a match-high nine kills (.389 hitting percentage) and one block. Classmate Kate Bilyeu (Omaha, Neb.) contributed eight points, all on kills, and freshman Kelly Kaufmann (Raleigh, N.C.) had six points on five kills (.556 hitting percentage) and two blocks.
Freshman Mia Pagliarini (Springboro, Ohio), the reigning America East Defensive Specialist of the Week, made a match-high 17 digs.

NJIT was led by Kyla Lannert (six points, 10 assists) and Katelyn Bliesner (five points); they tied for the team lead with five kills apiece and Lannert was one of four Highlanders with a team-high six digs.
UNH ends the regular season with a 7-3 record both overall and in the conference by virtue of Saturday's victory and a forfeit win vs. UAlbany in a match that was scheduled for Sunday.
With the two wins this weekend, UNH has a five-match win streak and will secure a berth in the conference title game with one UMBC loss to Hartford. The teams play a Sunday doubleheader in Baltimore.

SET 1
- There were no ties or lead changes in the opening set after UNH took a 4-0 lead.
- NJIT responded with three consecutive points, but then a kill by Kaufmann and error by the Highlanders gave the Wildcats a 6-3 advantage.
- The visitors once closed within one point at 6-5 and 7-6 before UNH went on a 6-1 run to build a 13-7 lead.
- NJIT inched within 13-10, but a kill by Sullivan sparked a 6-0 spurt on Pagliarini's serve that pushed the margin to 19-10.
- The Wildcats closed the set on another 6-0 run fueled by a pair of Patlovich service aces.
- UNH recorded a .364 hitting percentage in comparison to NJIT's -.120.
SET 2
- There were four ties and three lead changes in the second set; the Wildcats upped their hitting percentage to .379.
- NJIT took its first lead of the match, 1-0.
- The score was level at 1-1 and 2-2, then again at 7-7.
- Trailing 7-4, UNH reeled off nine consecutive points to build a 13-7 advantage. Freshman Ali Stuessi (Fairhaven, Mass.) recorded two service aces, while both Sullivan and Serbousek had two kills during the decisive run.
- Leading 15-10, the 'Cats closed the set on a 10-2 run.
SET 3
- There were six ties and one lead change in the final set. UNH recorded a .267 hitting percentage and NJIT had a high of .162.
- The Highlanders won the first two points on kills by Emma Godwin and Lannert.
- NJIT held its largest lead of the match, 9-6.
- The Wildcats rallied to tie the score, but the visitors won the next two points and surged ahead 12-10.
- UNH took its first lead of the set, 13-12, on a kill by freshman Ari Pola (Auckland, New Zealand).
- The visitors won the next point to forge the fifth tie of the set, but the 'Cats went on a 3-0 spurt to take a 16-13 lead.
- Trailing 17-14, NJIT won three consecutive points to tie the set at 17.
- New Hampshire reeled off the next eight points, however, to end the set and match.
- Sullivan's kill ignited the final push, which included two Serbousek aces and ended on a kill by Bilyeu.
MATCH NOTEBOOK
- UNH recorded a .333 hitting percentage, which is second this season only to the .376 recorded March 21 vs. Binghamton.
- NJIT finished with a .033 hitting percentage.
- The Wildcats had the edge in service aces (10-3), digs (42-34) and team blocks (3-0).
UNH NOTEBOOK
- UNH, which entered the weekend atop the America East leaderboard in service aces per set (2.07), matched its season high of 10 aces.
- Patlovich, the lone senior on the roster, was honored prior to the match.
- She recorded 30+ assists for the fifth time in nine matches this season, and her four service aces matched a career high that was established in the 2017 season.

- Pagliarini recorded double-digit digs for the sixth consecutive match, and she has a service ace each of the last three.
- Serbousek's .429 hitting percentage (seven kills and one error on 14 attempts) was a season high.
- Kaufmann also had a season-high hitting percentage of .556 on five kills and zero errors on nine attempts.
- UNH won in straight sets for the second consecutive match to extend its streak to eight consecutive sets won.
- The 'Cats won three of the last four matches in straight sets. (not including the forfeit)
