STORRS, Conn. – Samantha Carpentier-Yelle stopped all 20 shots she faced as the University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team fell by a score of 4-0 to the University of Connecticut in Saturday night's Hockey East matchup at the Freitas Ice Forum.
Natalie Snodgrass notched a game-high two points on a goal and an assist, while Camryn Wong, Savannah Bouzide, and Amy Landry also found the back of the net.
UNH starting goalie Ava Boutilier (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island) stopped 25 of 28 shots in the first two periods. Ava Thewes (Clarkston, Mich.) played the third period and stopped eight of the nine shots she faced.
UConn (5-5-1, 5-5-1 HE) concluded the weekend sweep of UNH (3-10-1, 3-10-1 HE) without giving up a goal.
New Hampshire is scheduled to return to action Jan. 29-30 at Maine.

FIRST PERIOD SUMMARY
UConn found the back of the net just 1:42 into the game when Natalie Snodgrass cut to the net, caught a pass from Morgan Wabick, and flipped a shot past Boutilier from the top of the crease.
UConn's Snodgrass and Danielle Fox both hit the pipe within a span of 30 seconds five minutes into the period.
UNH was able to kill a UConn power play after Paige Rynne (Ancaster, Ontario) was sent to the box with under two minutes remaining in the period.
UConn outshot UNH 13-7 in the first period. The Huskies were 0-0 on the power play, while the Wildcats were 0-0.
SECOND PERIOD SUMMARY
UConn extended its lead when Camryn Wong buried a rebound off of a shot from Danielle Fox just 27 seconds into the period – and eight seconds after the Huskies' power play ended.
The Wildcats killed another power play after Chavonne Truter (Uxbridge, Ontario) was sent to the box for tripping at 3:22.
Grace Middleton (Midland, Mich.) created a 2-on-1 opportunity with 14 minutes left in the period when she stole a puck in the neutral zone. Middleton fired a shot that was saved by Carpentier-Yelle. The rebound came out to Avery Myers (Fargo, N.D.), who was unable to capitalize.
UNH earned its first power play opportunity when Kate Klassen was sent to the box for holding with 9:58 remaining. UConn killed this opportunity by yielding just one shot on goal by Charli Kettyle (Perth, Ontario).
UConn earned another power play opportunity when Brianna Legros (New, Liskeard, Ontario) was called for interference. UNH killed the opportunity as Boutilier made two saves.
UConn made it 3-0 when Amy Landry put home a rebound from the slot at 17:56. Klassen and Emily Reid notched assists.
UConn outshot UNH after two periods by a margin of 28-14.
The Huskies were 0-for-3 on the power play in the middle stanza, while the Wildcats were 0-1.
THIRD PERIOD SUMMARY
UNH changed goaltenders to start the third period, putting in Thewes.
Maddie Truax (Gardner, Mass.) was sent to the box for tripping just over two minutes into the period.
Savannah Bouzide made it 4-0 UConn from an off-angle, top-shelf shot at 14:53. Jada Habisch was credited with the assist.
The home team recorded a 9-6 shot advantage and had the only power play in the final frame.
UNH NOTEBOOK
Boutilier increased her career saves total to 2,148, which ranks second in program history. Jen Huggon holds the benchmark of 2,851.
Boutilier is No. 4 in career minutes at 4626:04; third on the list is Alicia Roberts at 6526:33.
This was the second time the Wildcats were shut out this season; UNH had not been shut out prior to this weekend series vs. UConn.
Emily Rickwood (Brantford, Ontario) posted a team high four shots on net.
UNH posted 10 blocked shots.
Thewes made her season debut Saturday night. Her previous game action was Feb. 4, 2020, when she made the start, played the full 60 minutes and made 21 saves in a 3-1 win at Dartmouth College.
SERIES NOTEBOOK
· UNH has a 49-19-5 lifetime record against UConn.
This was the sixth consecutive shutout in the series. UConn shut out the Wildcats Friday night by a score of 1-0; UNH shut out the Huskies twice last season (2-0 and 1-0 in overtime), and UConn blanked the Wildcats twice, both by a score of 4-0.
