GAME RECAP
- The Wildcats struck first 9:09 into the first period on a quick breakaway; a BC shot was blocked close to the net by junior Maddie Truax (Gardner, Mass.) and was immediately picked up by senior Meghara McManus (Milton, Mass.) and flipped to Tamara Thiérus. Thiérus had just one defender to beat, and skated through all three zones and flipped the puck bar-down on the glove side of McArthur for the 1-0 lead.
- Minutes later the Wildcats tallied a power play goal 12:05 into the opening frame; a shot on goal by Carlee Turner (Scottsdale, Ariz.) was initially saved by McArthur, but Jada Christian crashed the net and found the puck behind McArthur in the crease and tipped it into the net for the 2-0 lead.
- Both teams were held scoreless in the second period; UNH outshot BC 13-7 in the second and had four power play attempts, but were unable to convert.
- The Eagles came out with pressure in the third; they outshot the Wildcats 32-13 overall in the period and 17-9 on target. Despite the extra chances, the UNH defense held strong with several blocks and interceptions to keep BC off the board.
- With under four minutes to go the Wildcats took to the counter-attack; senior captain Tori Howran (Bancroft, Ontario) skated the puck up ice into the offensive zone, and dropped a pass to Thiérus between two defenders. Thiérus fired a wrist shot that snuck over the blocker-side shoulder of McArthur in the top left corner of the net to seal the 3-0 victory.
