DURHAM, N.H. - With only three games remaining in the regular season and playoff seeding on the line, the University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team begins a home-and-home series this Saturday, February 15 and Sunday, February 16 with the no. 9 ranked Boston University Terriers.
Game one will take place at the Whittemore Center on Saturday, and will serve as UNH's alumni day. Puck drop is scheduled for 2 P.M. Game two on Sunday at Walter Brown Arena is scheduled for a 2:30 P.M. puck drop on NESN.
UNH will return home for one final home game in the regular season against Boston College next Saturday, February 22, for senior day. For tickets to the final two regular season home games, or for more info on UNH's playoff opponent when the standings are settled, visit UNHWildcats.com. TIGHT PLAYOFF RACE
The Wildcats find themselves in sixth place entering the week; all eight Hockey East playoff teams have been confirmed, but places 2-8 are yet to be decided. The Wildcats can finish as high as 2nd place in the conference (maximum 31 points, and potential tiebreaker over BU) and can finish as low as eighth. Currently behind the Wildcats in seventh is Maine (22 points to UNH's 25) and Vermont (19).
The Wildcats can climb the rankings with conference points in the next two weekends, with a tie for fourth place currently between Providence and UConn at 26 points.
LAST TIME OUT
- The 'Cats went 1-0-1 in their previous weekend of Hockey East play with a victory over BC and a tie with Merrimack.
- The Wildcats opened up the weekend at Conte Forum and took down the Eagles by a score of 3-0. Freshman Tamara Thiérus (Saint-Jerome, Quebec) tallied two goals in the contest on her way to a four-point weekend and Hockey East Rookie of the Week accolades. Her linemate and fellow rookie Jada Christian (Caledon East, Ontario) also notched a goal in the contest.
- Redshirt-sophomore Ava Boutilier (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island) notched her first start since January 10th and stopped all 32 BC shots on target for her fifth shutout of the season.
- On Saturday the 'Cats went up early on Merrimack with a first-period power play goal by Meghara McManus (Milton, Mass.) After two second-period power play goals, the Warriors held a 2-1 lead. Just under one minute after the second goal, Christian notched her second of the weekend to tie the game up, giving us the final score of 2-2.

- The Terriers (Boston, Mass.) come into the weekend as the No. 9 team in the country and is 20-6-4 on the season.
- The two-game home-and-home series will wrap up the season series between the two teams; UNH took the first matchup in the series, beating BU 4-2 at home on Oct. 12.
