DURHAM, N.H. – Coming off a tough home loss on Education Day, the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team looks to bounce back against UMBC this Saturday, February 15 in Lundholm Gymnasium.
The Wildcats fell to the Catamounts 44-42 in Lundholm on Wednesday, and will play their second straight home game welcoming the Retrievers to Durham. The Wildcats recently defeated UMBC in Baltimore last month, 72-63.
UP NEXT: The Wildcats have just two home games remaining in the 2019-2020 regular season; next Saturday they return home from Hartford to host UAlbany for Senior Day on February 22. They wrap up the home slate with their second to last game of the regular season, hosting Maine in the Border Battle presented by Buffalo Wild Wings on Wednesday, February 26 at 6 P.M. LAST TIME OUT:
- Junior guard Amanda Torres (Hudson, N.H.) set a new career high with 17 points, scoring UNH's first seven points of the contest to give the Wildcats an early first quarter lead against Vermont. Torres got the ball on the final inbound with just under two seconds to go in regulation but couldn't get the game-tying layup to fall.
- Torres' career-high 17 points came on 7-of-13 shooting, and a career-high three made 3-pointers. She also dished two assists on no turnovers and grabbed two steals.
- Junior forward Maggie Ahearn (Marshfield, Mass.) grabbed a team-high nine rebounds on the afternoon, and gave the Wildcats a boost in the third quarter with a scoring run; she finished with eight points, went 1-of-1 from behind the arc, and 1-of-2 at the free throw line.
- Senior guard Caroline Soucy (Beverly, Mass.) chipped in with seven points, along with five rebounds, two assists and a steal.
- The 11 A.M. tip-off saw a crowd of 1,219, mostly comprised of students from Oyster River and Somersworth middle schools, who experienced a pre-game educational/athletic presentation by UNH staff members and student-athletes.

- The Retrievers (Baltimore, MD) last played on Saturday February 8th, where they beat UMass Lowell 65-52. They have won the last two games putting them at 3-2 in their last 5 games.
- UMBC is 8-14 this season with a 3-8 record on the road.
