DURHAM, N.H.- The University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team has been ranked number three in the America East Conference Preseason Poll. The conference's head coaches vote in the poll and are not allowed to vote for their own team.
The Wildcats are led by 2019 America East Coach of the Year, Sarah Albrecht. Last season the team finished 10-7 overall, and was 5-2 in the conference. It was one of the most successful seasons the program has had in a decade. The most recent time before that was in 2010 when the Wildcats got 10 wins. It was also the first time in 14 years UNH had five conference wins.
UNH received 35 points from the coaches' voting placing them in third, while Stony Brook was the favorite with 49 points and UAlbany came in second at 41 points.
UNH kicks off the 2020 season at home against Merrimack College at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11.
