Ten 'Cats Receive 13 Total Awards at America East Annual Banquet

Sarah Albrecht Voted Coach of the Year; Five 'Cats Named to Second Team and All-Academic Team T
STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- Led by America East Coach of the Year Sarah Albrecht, the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team received a total of 13 conference awards at the America East annual banquet on Wednesday night.
UNH had five representatives on both the All-Conference Second Team and All-Academic Team, and two Wildcats made the All-Rookie Team.
Elise Chandler (Hopkinton, Mass.), Caroline Hernon (Hampton, N.H.) and Rylee Leonard (Coventry, R.I.) received two accolades with their selections to both the Second Team and All-Academic Team.
Mickenzie Larivee (Amherst, N.H.) and Catherine Sexton (Niskayuna, N.Y.) were named to the Second Team, while Jessica Lee (Southington, Conn.) and Devan Miller (Bristol, R.I.) made the All-Academic Team. Taylor Dudek (Amherst, N.H.) and Issy Torres (Elmhurst, Ill.) were voted to the All-Rookie Team.
Albrecht has guided New Hampshire to its best season in a decade with a 10-6 overall record that includes 5-2 in America East. The previous time the Wildcats recorded 10 wins in a season was 2010, and the last time UNH had five conference wins was 2005. Part of the reason for this year's success is the offense, which has scored 200 goals; the last Wildcat team to reach that benchmark was the 2009 squad.
Chandler is a senior captain with a 3.46 GPA in business administration: marketing. She ranks second on the team in ground balls (27) and caused turnovers(16). With those numbers, the defender ranks eighth in conference in CTOs. Chandler has recorded a ground ball in 12 of 16 games with eight multiple-GB efforts. She has been credited with a caused turnover in 9 of 16 games.
Hernon is a junior nutrition: dietetics major with a 3.51 GPA. She ranks fourth in America East in caused turnovers per game, and first on the team with 23. The midfielder is fifth in the conference in ground balls per game, while ranking first on the team with 39. Hernon is No. 8 in America East in draw controls and UNH's leader with 52. Offensively, she has contributed eight goals and three assists for 11 points.
Hernon has recorded a ground ball in 15 of 16 games with nine multiple-GB efforts. She's talled a draw control in 14 of 16 games and had multiple DCs 13 times. She's been credited with a caused turnover 12 times.
Leonard is a junior communications science & disorders major with a 3.81 GPA. She ranks first on the team in points and assists with 51 and 22, respectively. The midfielder also leads the team in shots on goal (62), and is third in both goals (29) and draw controls. Leonard is the first Wildcat since 2015 to record 50+ points, and the first 'Cat since 2016 to top 20 assists. In the conference, she ranks No. 5 in assists per game and No. 8 in points per game.
Leonard has an active 15-game point streak with 14 multiple-point efforts, including nine with multiple goals and six with multiple assists.
Larivee has recorded 32 goals and seven assists for 39 points. In her first year as a Wildcat, the senior attacker ranks second on the team in goals and fourth in points, as well as tied for fourth in assists. Larivee is also third in both shots (65) and shooting percentage (.492). She has recorded a point in 14 of 16 games and scored a goal each of the last nine games of the regular season. Larivee has tallied multiple points 10 times and has seven multiple-goal efforts, including each of the last four games.
Sexton has 27 goals and 19 assists for 46 points to rank second on the squad in both assists and points. She ranks fourth in goals and has a team-high .600 shooting percentage. In the conference, she ranks seventh in assists per game. Sexton has recorded a point in 14 of 16 games with 12 multiple-point efforts. She has scored a goal in 13 games, including the first 12 of the season, and has eight multiple-goal efforts. Also of note, Sexton has tallied a ground ball in 11 of 16 games. Earlier this week, Sexton was voted the America East Fans' Choice Player of the Year.
Lee is a senior majoring in Communications Sciences & Disorders with a stellar 4.0 GPA. She has started all 13 games she has played. When the Wildcats faced Central Connecticut State University, the defender finished with a career-high five ground balls. Lee's season stats include 16 ground balls and seven caused turnovers. She has corralled a GB in 9 of 13 games.
Miller is a graduate student earning her Master's in analytics with a 3.87 GPA. She leads the team in goals (34), free-position goals (eight) and shots (77). The midfielder also ranks third in points (40). Miller ranks 10th in the conference in both goals per game and shots per game. She has scored a goal in 15 of 16 games, including 11 multiple-goal efforts, with a current six-game goal streak. Miller began the season with a nine-game goal streak that included a stretch of seven consecutive games with multiple goals.
Dudek has played in 15 of 16 games with 10 starts, including each of the last eight. The freshman defender ranks fourth on the team in ground balls (23) and is tied for fourth in caused turnovers (11). Dudek has collected a ground ball in 10 of 16 games and has six games, including the last three of the regular season, with multiple ground balls.
Torres is a freshman goalkeeper who has started all 16 games and played 903 minutes, 34 seconds of a possible 960 minutes (94.1%). She has a 10-6 record with an 11.09 GAA and .445 save percentage. In America East conference play, Torres went 5-2 with a 10.43 GAA and .443 save percentage. She recorded 10+ saves six times, including a career high of 14 in her collegiate debut against Harvard University.
New Hampshire returns to action May 2 in an America East semifinal matchup against the University at Albany. Game time at Stony Brook University's LaValle Stadium is 1:30 p.m. The winner advances to the May 4 (4 p.m.) championship game.
