UNH Receives Eight Selections on HEA 35th Anniversary Team

WAKEFIELD, Mass. - The University of New Hampshire men's hockey team received eight selections to the Hockey East 35th Anniversary Team with five forwards and three goalies as voted on by fans, the league's head coaches, officials and media members. The eight selections rank fourth among Hockey East teams. The Wildcats on the team are Bobby Butler, Darren Haydar, Jason Krog, Mark Mowers, James van Riemsdyk, Mike Ayers, Ty Conklin and Kevin Regan.
Mowers (1994-1998) was a Hobey Baker Award finalist in 1998, and a three-time All-Hockey East selection. He was also the Hockey East Rookie of the Year in 1995. Mowers ranks fifth on UNH's career point's list (197) and ranks seventh on the program's leader board in both goals and assists.
Krog (1995-1999), who won the Hobey Baker Award in 1999, is also UNH's all-time assist leader (144), while ranking second in career points (238) and fourth in goals (94). He was an All-American selection his sophomore and senior years. He was the Hockey East Player of the Year as a senior.
Conklin (1998-2001) is the UNH career record holder in goals-against-average, while he is fourth in save percentage, third in wins and fifth in games played. He was a two-time All-American selection, and a two-time Hobey Baker Award finalist. In 2000 he was the Hockey East Co-Player of the Year.
Haydar (1998-2002) was an All-American selection and Hobey Baker Award finalist his senior year at UNH. During his time at UNH, he tallied 102 goals to rank second on the career leader board. He currently ranks third all-time in career points (219).
Ayers (2000-2004) was the USA Hockey College Player of the Year and the Walter Brown Award recipient in 2003. He was also the Hockey East Co-Player of the Year and First-Team selection in 2003. Ayers set single-season school records for wins, saves, save percentage, shutouts and minutes in the 2002-03 season.
Regan (2004-2008) was a 2008 Hobey Baker Award finalist and the Walter Brown Award winner. In 2008, he was the unanimous Hockey East Player of the Year, and was a First-Team selection. He is UNH's all-time leader in wins (70) and save percentage (.928).
Butler (2006-2010) played 153 games in his four years at UNH. He tallied 61 goals and 60 assists to total 121 career points. His senior year in 2010, he was an All-American selection.
van Riemsdyk (2007-2009) tallied 28 goals and 46 assists to total 74 points in his two-year career at UNH. During his time at UNH he was on the Hockey East All-Rookie team, and was a Hockey East All-Second team selection. In 2009, he was selected to the All-New England Team.
Steve Saviano and Trevor van Riemsdyk received honorable mention accolades.
