UNH vs. Hartford
UNH has a 27-45 lifetime record against Hartford, which swept last year's regular-season series and then ousted the Wildcats from the 2018 America East tournament with a 71-60 home win in the quarterfinals. Prior to last season, the 'Cats had won six straight in the series; before that, the Hawks won five straight. New Hampshire has a 14-17 record against Hartford under head coach Bill Herrion.
Autism Awareness Coaches Powering Forward
This annual NABC annual initiative, of which Tom Herrion (brother of UNH head coach Bill Herrion) is a co-founder, helps increase understanding and acceptance of people with autism. Autism currently affects 1 in 59 children in the U.S. and, for most, is a lifelong condition. In support of this initiative, UNH will wear its blue jerseys and coaches will wear pins. Hartford is showing its support of Autism Awareness Coaches Powering Forward by agreeing to wear its white jerseys, thereby allowing UNH to wear blue.
The State of New Hampshire
* UNH has a 3-22 overall record that includes 3-9 at home and 1-11 in America East (1-5 in conference road games). The Wildcats are coming off a 66-64 home loss to Stony Brook this past Saturday.
* New Hampshire has lost 10 straight, including five at home, since recording a 68-64 win against UMass Lowell at Lundholm Gym on Jan. 9.
* That win ended an 11-game losing streak, the team's longest since a stretch of 13 consecutive games spanning Nov. 2013 to Jan. 2014; that squad finished that year 6-24 overall, 4-13 America East.
* Following Thursday's game against Hartford, the Wildcats end the month at UAlbany (Feb. 27; 7 p.m.).
* UNH has scored more than 62 points twice in 12 America East conference games – the most recent game vs. Stony Brook as well as the 68 in the aforementioned win against UMass Lowell. The Wildcats have scored below 60 points in 8 of 12 conference games (that includes four games less than 50).
'Cat Nips
* UNH matched its season high of 13 3-pointers made this past Saturday vs. Stony Brook, and the Wildcats .433 percentage from 3-point range marked its fourth best of the season.
* Four: the most consecutive games UNH has used the same starting lineup this season (Jan. 9-23); that number will be matched Thursday if the projected starting lineup is accurate.
* Each of UNH's last two home games have been decided in the last minute. This past Saturday, the Wildcats' trailed by two points and missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer in a 66-64 loss to Stony Brook. One week earlier, UNH trailed by five points with the ball and 30 seconds on the clock; the 'Cats missed a jumper, however, and Binghamton went 4-4 at the foul line the rest of the way to secure the 68-61 win.
Conference Call
UNH ranks second in the conference with 8.9 3-pointers made per game. New Hampshire commits the second fewest turnovers per game (12.1).
