Wildcats Head to Buffalo for NCAA Regionals

Defending America East Champions take on the next challenge in Buffalo, N.Y.
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's cross country team, fresh off its league-leading seventh America East Championship, head to Buffalo, New York for the 2019 NCAA Northeast Regional meet.
New Hampshire placed three runners in the top 5, and all five scorers in the top 11, on in route to the program's fourth title in five seasons. The Wildcats were led by junior Elisabeth Danis (Nottingham, N.H.) who took individual runner-up honors, and fifth-year Shannon Murdock (Exeter, N.H.) who finished just two seconds behind Danis and was awarded the conference's Elite-18 award, an award given to the event medalist with the highest GPA.
Both Danis and Murdock will look to lead the way again for New Hampshire, along with fellow all-conference runners Meg Champagne (Plattsburgh, N.Y.), Lauren Dean (Gilmanton Iron Works, N.H.), Cayla Barretto (Woburn, Mass.) and Nicole Yeomans (Foxborough, Mass.) The Wildcats' seventh runner will be their final displacement runner from the America East championship, Caroline Mahoney (Bedford, N.H.).
The top two team scores in the regional meet advance to the NCAA Championship Meet held in Terre Haute, Indiana on Saturday, November 23. The top four individual finishers not on either of those two teams will also qualify, as well as at-large bids following the conclusion of all other regional meets.

The women's cross country team entered the USTFCCCA Northeast Region top-15 earlier this season; after a strong finish at the Coast to Coast Invitational the 'Cats moved up to #11 in the region; their highest position this season was #7 after their finish in the Paul Short Run gold 6k. They moved back up to #7 in the region after their America East Championship win.
