Wildcats secure five of top 12 finishers at Mark Coogan Championship Course
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Junior Bailey Hall (Yardley, Pa.) recorded a fourth-place finish to lead the UNH women's cross country team to Saturday's season-opening victory in the Suffolk Short Course Classic held at the Mark Coogan Championship Course at Highland Park. The Wildcats placed five runners among the top 12 finishers and seven among the top 21 en route to a 36-point victory in the season-opening 3-kilometer race.
The Wildcats totaled 36 points to finish ahead of runner-up Johnson & Wales (R.I.), which scored 62 points. Suffolk placed third with 139 points, Westfield State was fourth with 163 and Babson rounded out the top five with 181. UNH posted a team time of 58:01 and an average of 11:37 per runner.
After Johnson & Wales junior Amanda Intrieri won the individual title in 10 minutes, 43.2 seconds, the Wildcats controlled the race behind her by placing five runners in the top 12 and seven in the top 21.
Hall paced UNH with her fourth-place finish in 11:26.4, followed by senior Reagan Hoy (Surry, N.H.) in sixth (11:31.1), freshman Laurel Driscoll (Scarborough, Maine) in eighth (11:34.6), freshman Gracyn Halloran (Lake Huntington, N.Y.) in 11th (11:38.3) and junior Juliana Sciortino (Niskayuna, N.Y.) in 12th (11:49.7). Those five runners combined for the Wildcats' winning score of 36 points.
