Lester Scores Career-High 14 Points in 62-42 Loss to UAlbany

DURHAM, N.H. – Chris Lester (Barrington, Ill.) scored a career- and team-high 14 points, but the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team was defeated 62-42 by the University at Albany in Lundholm Gymnasium on Wednesday night.
Lester made 5 of 8 field goals, including a pair of 3-pointers, and also pulled down six rebounds. Josh Hopkins (Greensboro, N.C.) was UNH's next top scorer with eight points. Luke Rosinski (Derry, N.H.) grabbed a game-high eight rebounds and scored four points.
UAlbany was led by Ahmad Clark, who tallied 25 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals. Cameron Healy netted 16 points.
UNH is now 3-17 overall and 1-6 in America East. UAlbany won its second consecutive game to improve to 7-15, 2-5.

FIRST HALF
- Lester opened the game in full force scoring a 3-pointer and layup to give the Wildcats a 5-0 lead less than two minutes into the game.
- UAlbany answered with back-to-back 3-balls to take a 6-5 lead at 17:06.
- Lester immediately answered with a jumper to put the 'Cats back in front.
- The Great Danes went on a 7-2 run to build a 13-9 lead at 13:54, and the visitors led the rest of the way.
- A 3-pointer from Jordan Reed (Lucas, Texas) lifted UNH within one points, 13-12, at 13:03.
- Clark responded with a layup, then neither team scored for nearly four minutes when Devonte Campbell made two free throws to give UAlbany a 17-12 lead at 9:03.
- Lester made a layup and completed the three-point play to advance the score to 17-15 at 7:04.
- The score remained 20-18 in favor of the visitors for two minutes until a 3-pointer from Clark extended the Great Danes lead to 23-18 at 4:01.
- That shot ignited a 10-0 run in which Clark scored all 10 points and pushed the margin to 30-18 at 1:34.
- Following one foul shot by Marque Maultsby (Raleigh, N.C.), Clark hit another 3-pointer to give UAlbany a 33-19 lead with 48 seconds remaining in the first half.
- Kendall Lauderdale's dunk in the closing seconds pushed the score to 36-20, which was the Great Danes' largest lead in the first half.
SECOND HALF
- Clark scored four of the first five points in the second half to help UAlbany build a 41-20 advantage at 17:27.
- Hopkins answered with a pair of 3-pointers to trim the deficit to 41-26 at 16:10.
- Mark Carbone (Wethersfield, Conn) capped a five-point run with a 3-pointer to lift UNH within 44-31 at 12:11. The 'Cats made a defensive stop, but then were whistled for a technical foul. Cameron Healy made both foul shots to push the lead back to 15 points.
- Lester drilled his second 3-ball of the night from the right wing to lift New Hampshire within 46-34 at 10:08.
- The Great Danes answered with a 9-0 run to reestablish a 21-point lead, 55-34, at 7:06 and the home team never got closer than 19 points thereafter.
- Reed closed out the scoring by making one of two free throws at 1:03.

- UNH has a 16-24 lifetime record against UAlbany.

- Lester scored 11 of his points in the first half. The 14 total points surpassed his previous best of 12 at Seton Hall back in December.
- Rosinski did most of damage in the second half. He recorded four points and seven rebounds after halftime. Rosinski's 23 minutes were two fewer than his career high.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- There were no ties and three lead changes in the game.
- UNH held UAlbany to a .375 shooting percentage (18-48) from the floor and that included 39.1 percent from 3-point range (9-23).
- The Wildcats made 13 of 54 field goal attempts (24.1%) and that included 7 of 27 (25.9%) from beyond the arc.
- UNH recorded a 46-33 rebounding advantage that included 18-6 on the offensive glass. The second-chance points discrepancy was only 7-2 in favor of the 'Cats.
- New Hampshire committed a season-high 18 turnovers in comparison to the Great Danes' 12. UAlbany had a 20-7 scoring edge in points off turnovers.
- The visitors made 17 of 23 free throws in comparison to 9-for-18 by the home team.
