Balanced Attack Propels 'Cats to 17-0 Win at Hartford

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Carly Wooters (White Plains, N.Y.) matched her career high of four goals to lead a balanced attack and the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team to Saturday morning's 17-0 victory against the University of Hartford at Alumni Stadium.
The four points also equaled a personal best for Wooters. Krissy Schafer (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Michele Smith (Wantagh, N.Y.) both scored three goals; Schafer also contributed three ground balls and two caused turnovers, while the three tallies marked a career high for Smith. Teagan Northrup (Longmeadow, Mass.) finished with personal bests of three assists and five ground balls, and the three points matched her career high.
Starting goalie Kate Clancy (Barrington, R.I.) played 21:32, exited the game with UNH leading 9-0 and did not face a shot. Amanda Gottlieb (Canton, Conn.) played the final 38:28 and stopped all three shots she faced.
Lizzie Suschana (Somers, Conn.) was credited with four ground balls and career-high four caused turnovers. Cat Sennott (Westford, Mass.) finished with five ground balls and two caused turnovers.
UNH, with its second road win of the season, improved to 2-0 in America East and 4-6 overall. Hartford is now 1-7, 0-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Rebecca Sennott (Westford, Mass.) controlled the opening draw and Schafer converted Northrup's pass into a goal 40 seconds into the game.
- Julia Neyland (Boxborough, Mass.) finished the feed from Elizabeth Blanding (Pittsford, N.Y.) for a 2-0 lead at 27:56.
- Schafer struck again at 23:05 and Wooters, who wears jersey number 15, scored her 15th goal of the season 15 seconds later to push the margin to 4-0.
- Smith and Caroline Hernon (Hampton, N.H.) netted free-position goals at 21:07 and 19:30, respectively, to give the Wildcats a 6-0 lead.
- Wooters netted her second free-position goal of the game to make it 7-0 at 18:50.
- Hartford recorded its only shot of the first half at 16:39 when Emily Steele fired a shot wide of the cage.
- A pair of Wooters' goals sandwiched around another by Hernon gave UNH a 10-0 lead at 7:56.
- Schafer, with the assistance of Neyland, scored at 6:12 and Catherine Sexton (Niskayuna, N.Y.) extended the lead to 12-0 at 2:36.
- Haley Bridgeman (Wolfeboro, N.H.), who made her collegiate debut at the outset of the second half, potted goals at 18:25 and 17:51 to push the advantage to 14-0.
- Sexton set up Smith's tally at 12:57, then Northrup assisted on the last two goals of the game by Sabrina Grovom (Marcos, Calif.) and Smith at 11:11 and 2:02, respectively.

- Schafer extended her goal and point streaks to eight games; she has 20 points, all on goals, during the streak.
- Wooters extended her goal and point streaks to seven games; she has 16 goals and four assists for 20 points in that time.
- Smith has scored a goal in four consecutive games and in 6 of 7.
- Sexton has a goal in five consecutive games (5g, 3a).
- With two goals, Hernon recorded her first multiple-goal game; she also had a personal best of four ground balls.
- It was the first collegiate goal and second career point for Grovom.
