Wooters, Schafer Pace Balanced Attack In 13-4 Win vs. CCSU

DURHAM, N.H. – Krissy Schafer (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Carly Wooters (White Plains N.Y.) recorded four points apiece to lead the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team to a 13-4 victory against Central Connecticut State University at Bremner Field on Saturday afternoon.
Schafer scored four goals to account for all of her points while Wooters tallied three goals and an assist, as well as a game-high four draw controls. Teagan Northrup (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Julia Neyland (Boxborough, Mass.) both finished with a goal and two assists.
UNH starting goalkeeper Kate Clancy (Barrington, R.I.) played the first half and surrendered just two goals to earn the victory; she was not credited with a save. Amanda Gottlieb (Canton, Conn.) stopped 2 of 4 shots on goal in the second half.
Cat Sennott (Westford, Mass.) recorded a career-high five caused turnovers and game-high six ground balls. Maddie Maurer (Longmeadow, Mass.) had a personal-best five ground balls.
Morgan Sinton (1g, 1a) was CCSU's only multiple-point scorer. Starting goalie Jackie Branthover made eight saves and allowed six goals in one half of play; she was charged with the loss. Meaghan Allard was credited with three saves.
UNH improved to 2-0 at home and 2-2 overall. CCSU is 0-3.

- UNH continues its four-game homestand Feb. 28 against the University of Connecticut. Game time at Bremner Field is 3 p.m.

THE DIFFERENCE

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Schafer was the first to score at 24:03 of the first half when she finished Northrup's feed from behind the net.
- Alaigra Usher tied the score just 70 seconds later on a free position at 22:53.
- Wooters netted an unassisted goal 40 seconds later (21:27) to give the Wildcats a lead they would not relinquish.
- She set up Schafer's next tally at 15:53 and Elizabeth Blanding (Pittsford, N.Y.) scored her first career goal on a free position 63 seconds later to extend the lead to 4-1.
- Molly Coogan answered with a free-position goal at 10:01 to close within 4-2.
- Neyland scored a 3:03 and Northrup set up Schafer's tally with 15 seconds on the clock to send New Hampshire into halftime with a 6-2 lead.
- The Blue Devils scored two of the first three goals in the second half to trim the deficit to 7-4. Cameron Ruberti assisted on Sinton's goal at 25:06 and then Sinton set up Kaitlyn Rapp at 17:45.
- In between, Michele Smith potted her first goal of the season at 21:06.
- Rebecca Sennott struck 54 seconds after Rapp's goal to give the 'Cats an 8-4 lead.
- Schafer netted her fourth goal of the game on a free position at 14:29, then neither team scored for more than 10 minutes.
- Wooters scored back-to-back goals 53 seconds apart – at 4:26 and 3:33 – to push the advantage to 11-4.
- Neyland set up the last two goals of the game in the final minute by Rebecca Sennott and Northrup.
