Hopkins Scores Team-High 15 Points in 104-75 Loss at UMass

AMHERST, Mass. – Josh Hopkins (Greensboro, N.C.) led four double-digit scorers with 15 points but the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team was upended 104-75 by the University of Massachusetts on Friday night at the Mullins Center.
Hopkins was followed by Jordan Reed (Lucas, Texas) and Marque Maultsby (Raleigh, N.C.) with 12 apiece. Chris Lester (Barrington, Ill.) netted 10 points.
Elijah Jordan (Orlando, Fla.) recorded a team-high five assists and six points. Nick Guadarrama (Newington, Conn.) pulled down a team-leading seven rebounds and also scored seven points.
UMass was led by Rashaan Holloway (18 points), Luwane Pipkins (14), Curtis Cobb (12), Tre Wood (11) and Sy Chatman (10).
UNH is now 1-1 and UMass improved to 2-0.
LOOKING AHEAD
New Hampshire returns to action Nov. 12 (1 p.m.) at home against the College of Mount Saint Vincent for a one o'clock matinee at Lundholm Gym.

THE DIFFERENCE
* UMass scored in transition and from 3-point range to extend its lead at every media timeout in the first half.
* The Minutemen shot 65.5 percent from the floor (19-29), including 54.5 percent (6-11) from 3-point range, in the opening 20 minutes.
* In comparison, UNH was 11-for-29 from the floor (37.9 percent) with 3 of 13 made 3-pointers (23.1 percent).
