Wildcats Fall at BU 3-2 Despite 3rd Period Rally

UNH drops to 1-1-0 in conference play.
BOSTON – After winning their first Hockey East game of the season, the University of New Hampshire women's hockey team traveled to Walter Brown Arena to face the Boston University Terriers on Saturday afternoon.
Down 2-0 in the third period, junior Nicole Dunbar (Coto de Caza, Calif.) tallied her third goal of the season to cut the BU lead to one, but the Wildcats could not find the equalizer.
After a 1-1-0 weekend to kick off Hockey East play, the 'Cats are now 1-2-1 overall. They remain at home this coming weekend for a game Friday, October 19 at 7 P.M. against Vermont, and the second yearly Stick it to Stigma game against Northeastern Sunday, October 21 at 2 P.M. GAME RECAP
- The Terriers struck first early in the first period, 3:24 into the game, from Sammy Davis, assisted by Jesse Compher and Courtney Correia at even strength.
- Just Minutes later, Grace Middleton (Midland, Mich.) tipped a shot from Tori Howran (Bancroft, Ontario) to tie the game up.
- With under two minutes remaining in the period, Davis scored again for the Terriers, from Compher and Correia, to give BU the lead going into the first intermission.
- BU scored the only goal of the second; just 55 seconds in, Compher tallied an unassisted, shorthanded goal to put BU up by two.
- UNH was whistled for their first and only penalty four minutes into the third period; the ensuing power play was killed off by the 'Cats.
- On their third power play of the game, the Wildcats were able to cut the lead to one goal just about halfway through the period from Nicole Dunbar, but the Wildcats were unable to tally the equalizer with the goaltender pulled.
