BLUE OUT BU: The University of New Hampshire men's hockey team returns to Hockey East action when the Wildcats host Boston University at the Whittemore Center on Friday, Jan. 12, at 7:00 p.m. The game will be "Blue Out BU" so make sure to wear your UNH Blue to support the Wildcats versus one of the nation's top programs!
DOLLAR DOG NIGHT: Hot dogs will only be $1 on Friday night at the Whittemore Center versus the Terriers. "Dollar Dog Night" will also be on Jan. 26 versus the UConn Huskies and Feb. 24 versus the Northeastern Huskies.

The Wildcats will host Boston University (8-11-1, 6-7-1 HEA) at the Whittemore Center on Friday, Jan. 12, at 7:00 p.m. The game will be "Blue Out BU" and hot dogs will only be $1. Tickets can be purchased at the Whittemore Center Box Office, online at UNHWildcats.com or by calling 603-862-4000.
- Then on Sunday, Jan. 14, the Wildcats will hit the road to play No. 16 Boston College (10-8-3, 10-3-0 HEA) at Conte Forum at 1:00 p.m.
- UNH is currently ranked third in the nation with a .884 penalty kill percentage.
- UNH has outscored its opposition, 60-52, so far this season and have posted four shutouts.
- Earlier this season, the Wildcats fell to BU on the road, 4-0, on Nov. 11, while they lost to BC, 3-2, on Nov. 17 at the Whittemore Center.
- BC is currently in first place in the Hockey East standings with 20 points, while BU is fifth with 13 points and UNH is eighth with nine points. BC has played 13 league games, BU has played 14 and the Wildcats have played 10.
- Senior goalie Danny Tirone (Trumbull, Conn.) now holds the UNH career saves record with 3,252. Kevin Regan (2005-2008) held the record with 3,235 saves. Tirone has played in 112 career games, which are tied for the most in program history for a goalie. Regan also played in 112 games.

#3 PENALTY KILL IN THE NATION: The Wildcats are third nationally and first in Hockey East with a .884 penalty kill percentage. UNH is 76-for-86 on the penalty kill only allowing 10 goals. UNH is also ranked third in Hockey East and 17th in the nation in scoring defense with 2.60 goals allowed per game.
THE MATCHUPS: The Wildcats are tied with BU for fifth in Hockey East in scoring offense with 3.00 goals scored per game, while BC is eighth with 2.71 goals per contest. UNH is third in the conference in scoring defense with 2.60 goals allowed per game, while BU (3.00) is tied for seventh and BC (2.81) is fifth. The Wildcats are fifth in the league with a .205 power play percentage, while BU (.209) is second and BC (.155) is 11th. UNH leads Hockey East with a .884 penalty kill percentage, while BU (.765) is ninth and BC (.794) is sixth.
TIRONE SETS SCHOOL RECORD: Senior assistant captain Danny Tirone (Trumbull, Conn.) is ranked first all-time at UNH with 3,252 career saves. Tirone has played in 112 career games, which are tied for first all-time in program history for a goalie. Kevin Regan (2005-2008) also played in 112 games. Tirone's 47 career wins are seventh, and his 2.83 goals against average is eighth and his .912 save percentage is sixth. He is 9-9-2 on the season. His .916 save percentage is fourth in Hockey East and his 2.62 goals against average is ranked seventh. His four shutouts lead Hockey East and are tied for second in the nation.
STRONG SCORING MARGIN: The Wildcats have outscored its opponents by a 60-52 margin so far this season for the fifth best scoring margin in the conference. UNH is tied for fifth in Hockey East with 3.00 goals scored per game. The Wildcats are also fifth in the conference with a .205 power play percentage. UNH has had 16 different goal scorers with 20 players with at least one point.
MCNICHOLAS LEADING THE TEAM IN POINTS: Senior forward Michael McNicholas (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) leads the team with 14 assists and 19 points, while his five goals are tied for third. For his career he has played in 101 games with 22 goals and 53 assists for 75 points.
GILDON THIRD IN ROOKIE SCORING: Freshman defenseman Max Gildon (Plano, Texas) is third in Hockey East in points scored by a freshman with 15. He has seven goals and eight assists this season. Gildon leads the team in goals and is tied for second in points.
NUMBER 91: The 2017-2018 season is the 91st year of men's hockey at UNH. The program has a record of 1,231-931-150.
UMILE IN 28th & FINAL SEASON AT UNH: UNH head coach Dick Umile is the second longest tenured coach at their current institution as he is now in his 28th season with the 'Cats. Rick Gotkin (Mercyhurst) is going into his 30th season. Umile has a 595-362-110 all-time record at UNH. The 595 wins are third among active Division I coaches.
CHANTER NAMED CAPTAIN: Senior defenseman Dylan Chanter (Armstrong, British Columbia) is the team captain for the 2017-2018 season. Chanter played in 37 games a year ago as a key member of the defense. This season he has appeared in all 20 games.
BUTLER NAMED TO OLYMPIC TEAM: UNH alum Bobby Butler (Marlborough, Mass.) has been named to the 2018 United States Olympic Team. The 2018 Winter Olympics will be held on Feb. 9-25, in PyeongChang, South Korea. The first contest for Team USA will be on Feb. 14 against Slovenia. Butler represented Team USA in the 2013 World Championship with three goals and one assist for four points as the team won the bronze medal. Butler was a Hobey Baker "Hat Trick" Finalist and an All-American as a senior at UNH in 2009-2010. Butler led UNH in scoring with 53 points (29 goals, 24 assists), ranking second in the country. Among his other awards, Butler was the 2010 Hockey East Player of the Year, 2010 Walter Brown Award winner, Hockey East Three Stars Award winner, a New England All-Star, Leonard Fowle Award winner (New England MVP) and Herb Gallagher Award winner (New England's best forward). Butler totaled 121 points at UNH (61 goals, 60 assists), becoming the 67th member of the Wildcat Century Club. A member of three Hockey East regular season championship teams (2007, 2008, 2010), Butler led the 'Cats to the NCAA tournament in each of his four seasons. Butler has played in a combined 127 NHL games with Ottawa, New Jersey, Nashville and Florida with 20 goals and 29 assists for 49 points. He currently plays for the Milwaukee Admirals, the AHL affiliate of Nashville. He has 13 goals and 12 assists for 25 points this season as he leads the team in goals and points.
GRANITE STATE CONNECTION: Four Wildcats are from the Granite State; junior Chris Miller of Windham, sophomore Nick Nonis of Hampton Falls, sophomore Joe Lazzaro of Hampstead and freshman Mike Robinson of Bedford.
WILDCATS DRAFTED BY NHL TEAMS: Five current Wildcats are NHL draft picks. Senior Shane Eiserman (Ottawa-2014, Round #4, Pick #100), junior Marcus Vela (San Jose-2015, Round #7, Pick #190), and freshmen Benton Maass (Washington, 2017, Round #6, #182), Max Gildon (Florida-2017, Round #3, #66) and Mike Robinson (San Jose-2015, Round #3, #86) have all been drafted by NHL organizations.
WILDCATS THROUGH AND THROUGH: Head coach Dick Umile ('72) and associate head coaches Glenn Stewart ('94) and Mike Souza ('00) are all graduates and former players of UNH. Goaltenders coach Brian Foster ('10) was an All-American at UNH. Assistant AD for Hockey Operations Colin Shank ('05) is also a graduate of UNH.
THREE COACHES, 402 POINTS: Umile, Stewart and Souza are each members of the Century Club for the men's hockey program. Souza tallied 156 points (66g, 90a), Umile 144 points (60g, 84a) and Stewart notched 102 points (51g, 51a).
