DURHAM, N.H. – Freshman Eric MacAdams (Salem, Mass.) and senior Jason Salvaggio (Hanson, Mass.) each posted a goal and an assist for the Wildcats, while senior goaltender Adam Clark (Sherwood Park, Alberta) made a career-best 35 saves as the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team fell to Boston University, 3-2, on Friday night at the Whittemore Center.

The Wildcats return to action on Sunday, Jan. 14 as they hit the road to play No. 16 Boston College at the Conte Forum at 1:00 p.m.

NEXT HOME GAME (UConn-Jan. 26):

After UNH plays two games at Maine on Jan. 19-20, the Wildcats will return to the Whittemore Center on Friday, Jan. 26, to take on UConn at 7:00 p.m. The game will be First Responders Night and hot dogs will only be $1. HOW IT HAPPENED

BU opened the scoring at 4:26 of the first period. With BU on the man advantage, Brandon Hickey ripped a slap shot from the blue line, and Shane Bowers collected the rebound and found the back of the net to give BU a 1-0 lead.
UNH got on the board at 14:48 of the first period as MacAdams sent a shot from the blue line wide of BU goaltender Jake Oettinger. He followed the puck, wrapping behind the BU goal, picking up his own rebound and burying it high on Oettinger's glove side to make it 1-1. Salvaggio and Michael McNicholas (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) added the assists.
Two BU goals were overturned after video review during the first period.
BU outshot UNH 16-7 in the first period.
The Wildcats struck early in the second period at 1:18 as MacAdams broke into the offensive zone on a two-on-one opportunity. He sauced a pass to Salvaggio in the slot and he buried it on the glove side to give UNH the 2-1 lead.
BU equalized at 6:55 of the second period when Hank Crone delivered a pass from behind the goal to Ty Amonte who found the back of the net to tie the game 2-2.
With 1:45 remaining in the second period, BU took a 3-2 lead as Brady Tkachuk fired a shot wide and Jordan Greenway wrapped around the goal, collecting the rebound and beating Clark on the blocker side.
Each team tallied 11 shots during the second period.
With 1:04 remaining in the third period, UNH pulled their goaltender for the extra attacker, yet were unable to score as BU secured the 3-2 victory.

BU outshot UNH, 38-28.
The Wildcats went 0-2 on the power play, while BU went 1-4.
Each team secured 29 faceoffs.
Clark made 35 saves, while Oettinger posted 26 for BU.

MacAdams recorded his first career assist in tonight's contest.
The game was Clark's first start since November 12, 2016 versus Arizona State in a 5-4 overtime loss.
Clark's 35 saves are a career best.
McNicholas tallied two assists in tonight's game. This marks the 23rd multi-point game of his career.
Salvaggio's two points is the 12th multi-point game of his career.
MacAdams' two points represent the second multi-point game of his career.
