Gurello, Croke Score Three Goals Apiece in 11-10 OT Loss at Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. – Devon Croke (Norwell, Mass.) and Marisa Gurello (Manorville, N.Y.) scored three goals apiece but the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team was upended 11-10 in overtime by College of the Holy Cross on Wednesday night at Kuzniewski Field.
Kate Clancy (Barrington, R.I.) finished with eight saves, including one with 10 seconds remaining in regulation to send the game into overtime and another in the extra session.
Holy Cross was led offensively by Mary Paralita (four goals) and Tess MacKay (three goals), while goalkeeper Julia Maloney stopped eight shots, including one in OT.
UNH moves to 0-4 and Holy Cross levels its record at 3-3.

GAME RECAP
- UNH scored the first four goals of the game and Gurello opened the scoring on a free position from the top-left at 25:51.
- The Wildcats then scored three goals in as many minutes to quickly extend the advantage to 4-0. Croke rifled a shot from the top of the fan inside the left post at 21:42 and Gurello struck again, this time on a drive from the top of the fan and low shot, at 20:17. Croke raced the length of the field to score her second of the game at 19:12.
- Holy Cross called a timeout and trimmed the deficit to 4-1 on MacKay's goal at 18:44.
- Gurello netted her third goal of the game, this time on another free position, to push the margin back to four goals, 5-1, at 13:01.
- The Crusaders reeled off three consecutive goals, including player-up tallies at 9:28 and 6:48, to close within 5-4.
- Carly Wooters (White Plains, N.Y.) cut across the middle of the fan and fired a sidearm shot into the cage at 5:33 to give the 'Cats a 6-4 lead heading into halftime.
- Holy Cross opened the second half with consecutive goals by Ward and MacKay at 26:58 and 25:13, respectively, to tie the score at 6.
- With a Crusader serving a yellow card, Rebecca Sennott (Westford, Mass.) intercepted a pass near midfield and quickly found Schafer low on the left side and she scored to give UNH a 7-6 lead at 17:52.
- HC tied the score 14 seconds later, but New Hampshire went back in front, 8-7, on Croke's third tally of the game at 12:45.
- The Crusaders forged the third goal of the game – all in the second half – at 9:56.
- UNH scored consecutive goals at 8:29 and 6:10 to build a 10-8 lead.
- Audrey Mandaro reduced the deficit to one goal at 2:34.
- Patalita scored with 1:15 remaining in regulation to send the game into overtime and she scored with 42 seconds left in the six-minute extra session to give the Crusaders their only lead of the game, and end the game.
