Wildcats Win Fourth Straight, Are Unbeaten in Six (5-0-1)
BOSTON – Devan Taylor (North Billerica, Mass.) scored at 2:12 of overtime to lift the University of New Hampshire women's hockey team to Friday night's 3-2 victory against Northeastern University at Matthews Arena.
UNH, which had been idle since Dec. 10 (5-3 win at Yale University), won its fourth consecutive game and extended its unbeaten streak to six games (5-0-1) to improve to 9-11-1 overall and 7-6-1 in Hockey East. NU, which had won each of the past five meetings in this series, is now 12-7-3, 8-5-2.
With the score tied 2-2 in the extra session, Julia Fedeski (Algonquin Highlands, Ontario) made a tape-to-tape pass between two NU skaters to Taylor through the neutral zone. Taylor advanced alone down the slot and wristed a hard shot into the upper-right corner to end the game.
It was the first lead of the game for the Wildcats, who erased a one-goal deficit in both the first and second periods.
UNH goaltender Hilary Cashin (Fredericton, New Brunswick) made 28 saves, including one in overtime. NU counterpart Brittany Bugalski stopped 15 shots and also had one save in OT.
