The Series : UNH vs. Northeastern
- One of the oldest rivalries in women's college hockey resumes Friday night when New Hampshire faces off against Northeastern University for the 134th lifetime meeting.
- UNH leads the all-time series by a mark of 79-45-9, but NU has won five straight and 12 of the last 13 meetings vs. the Wildcats.
- The 'Cats have a 34-23-1 road record and 34-17-6 home ledger vs. the Huskies.
- UNH's most recent win in the series was Feb. 27, 2015, when the Wildcats were 2-1 victors in Game 1 of the Hockey East best of three quarterfinal series at Matthews Arena.
- The Wildcats have lost each of the last six matchups at the Whittemore Center and are winless the past 10 home games (0-8-2); UNH's most recent win at the Whitt was Dec. 9, 2008 (3-0 win).

The State of New Hampshire
- UNH, idle since a 5-3 win at Yale University on Dec. 10, enters the weekend with an 8-11-1 overall record that includes 6-6-1 in Hockey East, 5-6-0 at home and 3-5-1 on the road.
- The Wildcats are unbeaten the past three road games (2-0-1) and have won each of their last three home games.
- New Hampshire ended the 2016 calendar year with a three-game win streak as part of a five-game unbeaten streak (4-0-1).
- The last time UNH faced off against a Hockey East opponent resulted in a two-game weekend sweep of Merrimack College; 5-2 on the road (Dec. 2) and 4-2 at home (Dec. 3).
- All three of UNH's overtime games were in November, and the 'Cats have a 1-1-1 record in OT.
- New Hampshire is 3-1 in games decided by one goal and that includes 1-1 in overtime.
- New Hampshire is averaging 2.40 goals and 26.4 shots per game while yielding 3.20 goals and 31.4 shots per game. On special teams, the 'Cats are 11-for-82 (13.4%) on the power play and 83 of 96 (86.5%) on the penalty kill.
'Cat Nips
- Freshman forward Nicole Dunbar (Coto de Caza, Calif.) carries a four-game goal-scoring streak into the new year. She has six points (4g, 2a) during the streak. The four-game goal streak is the longest by a Wildcat since then-freshman Sara Carlson had a four-game goal streak in October 2012.
- Freshman forward Carlee Turner (Scottsdale, Ariz.) has a four-game assist streak and has tallied an assist six of the last seven games. Turner has 1-4-5 during the assist streak. It is the longest assist streak by a Wildcat since Jonna Curtis' five-game assist streak last October-November.
- Freshman forward Meghara McManus (Milton, Mass.) recorded a career-high three assists for a personal-best three points Dec. 10 at Yale University. She became the first Wildcat in more than three years to record three assists in a game with three helpers at Yale. The last time it happened was Oct. 5, 2013 (Nicole Gifford vs. Syracuse).
- Junior forward Kate Haslett (Rothesay, New Brunswick) matched her career high of two points for the second consecutive game with a goal and an assist at Yale.
- Sophomore goaltender Hilary Cashin (Fredericton, New Brunswick) is unbeaten (5-0-1) in her last six games with a 1.95 GAA and .925 save percentage. The streak began with a 3-2 overtime win vs. Harvard University on Nov. 15.
December to Remember
- New Hampshire won all three games in December to mark the first time since the 2008-09 season the Wildcats were unbeaten in that month (minimum two games played). The 'Cats were 1-0-2 in December 2008.
- UNH outscored the opposition 14-7 for an average of 4.67 goals per game and 2.33 goals allowed per game.
Inside the Unbeaten Streak
- Hilary Cashin is 4-0-1 with a 1.97 GAA and .915 save percentage during UNH's five-game unbeaten streak.
- Nicole Dunbar is UNH's leader in both goals (four) and points (six) with an impressive .308 shooting percentage (4 goals on 13 shots).
- Meghara McManus and Carlee Turner lead the 'Cats with four assists, and they are two of four players with five points; the others are Jonna Curtis and Amy Schlagel, both of whom have two goals and three assists.
- UNH has outscored the opposition 18-10, including 6-2 in the first period, with a 146-118 shot advantage during the unbeaten streak.

New Hampshire Notes
- UNH's 6-6-1 record in Hockey East is the team's best conference record through 13 games since the 2012-13 team had that identical record.
- Nine forwards recorded a point and four finished with multiple points in the most recent game, a 5-3 victory at Yale on Dec. 10.
- In the past three games, the Wildcats have trailed for a total of only 35 seconds. Merrimack College scored first Dec. 3 at the Whittemore Center, but the Wildcats tied the score 35 seconds later.
Happy New Year!
- New Hampshire has a 29-7-2 all-time record in New Year games (the first game of a new calendar year).
- UNH has a 15-6-0 road record in New Year games.
- This is the second consecutive year the Wildcats travel to Matthews Arena to face off against Northeastern for the New Year game; the Huskies prevailed 4-2 a year ago (Jan. 9, 2016).

- Jonna Curtis enters the week tied for seventh in Hockey East in goals (11) and tied for ninth in points (20). She is fourth in power-play points (eight) and is tied for third in shots (88).
- Julia Fedeski (Algonquin Highlands, Ontario) is tied for third in power-play goals with four, while Curtis is tied for eighth in that stat with three PPG.
- Curtis and Amy Schlagel are tied for seventh in game-winning goals with two.
- Carlee Turner is tied for ninth in assists with 11.
- Turner (2g, 11a) and Meghara McManus (6g, 7a) are tied for sixth in freshman scoring with 13 points.
- Sophomore defenseman Marie-Jo Pelletier (Dalhousie, New Brunswick) is tied for sixth in blocked shots (37) and classmate Jenna Rheault (Deering, N.H.) is tied for eighth with (36).

- Jonna Curtis has tallied 13 points (8g, 5a) in 13 Hockey East games.

Emerging No. 1
- Sophomore goaltender Hilary Cashin has emerged as the No. 1 starter. She started each of the last five games of the 2016 calendar year; prior to that, she and classmate Kyra Smith (Littleton, Colo.) had alternated starts for 16 games.
- Cashin, who saw limited action in three games last season, has a 2.59 GAA and .906 save percentage with a 7-4-1 record in 13 games (12 starts).
- In addition to her career-high 41 saves Oct. 23 vs. Clarkson, Cashin made 32 saves (on 35 shots) in her first game of the season, a 3-1 loss at eighth-ranked Colgate (Oct. 2). Cashin recorded her second 40+ save effort in the 3-2 overtime win vs. Harvard on Nov. 16.
- Cashin stopped 21 shots vs. Merrimack to earn her first career win Oct. 15.
- Smith made 32 or more saves each of her first five games, and that included 38 saves in the season-opening 4-2 loss at No 8 Colgate and 36 saves at No. 9 Boston University.
- Smith made a personal-best 39 saves Nov. 19 at PC (6-3 loss) with 15 saves in the first period, 14 in the second and 10 in the third.
- In eight games, Smith has a 3.80 GAA and .897 save percentage with a 1-7-0 record; she is 1-5-0 in Hockey East with a 4.05 GAA and .888 save percentage.
- Smith's most recent action was Nov. 19 in a 6-3 loss at Providence College.
Block That Shot
- With eight blocked shots in UNH's most recent game at Yale (Dec. 10), sophomore Marie-Jo Pelletier climbed atop the team leaderboard in that stat with 37.
- Classmate Jenna Rheault is next with 36. She is followed by junior Julia Fedeski (Algonquin Highlands, Ontario) with 31.
Strong Starts
- UNH has outscored the opposition 18-12 in the first period despite being outshot 202-164; however, the Wildcats have been outscored 31-13 in the third period, when the opponents have a 219-167 shot advantage.

- Junior McKenna Brand leads the team in scoring with 26 points in 21 games, which gives her an average of 1.24 points per games. She has scored 17 goals, which is tied for the most in Hockey East.
- Northeastern has played well when shorthanded, as they have the two top Hockey East leaders in shorthanded points: sophomore Maddie Hartman and Brand with three apiece.
- Senior defenseman Heather Mottau is the Huskies' leader in defensive scoring, and her point total of 13 is tied for second in Hockey East amongst blueliners.
- Brittany Bugalski, the sophomore goaltender for the Huskies, has a save percentage of .925, which ranks third in Hockey East. Her 2.08 GAA ranks fourth. Northeastern is 12-5-3 when she is in net.
- NU is averaging 3.05 goals and 30.7 shots per game while allowing averages of 2.29 goals and 28.2 shots.
- The Huskies have struggled on the power play, scoring on only 11.7% of their opportunities.
- Despite their struggles with scoring on the power play, Northeastern has killed 90% of penalties, which ranks as the third highest percentage in Hockey East.
