Game 4 • Sunday, Sept. 4 • 1 p.m.
Harvard (1-0, 0-0 Ivy League) at UNH (1-2, 0-0 America East)
Â
Â
UNH vs. Harvard: New Hampshire has a 22-12-2 lifetime record against Harvard. UNH has won seven straight in the series dating back to the 2008 season; three of those seven games went into overtime. The previous two meetings were on the road; the Wildcats won 3-1 a year ago and prevailed 1-0 in OT in '14. The last time these teams played at Memorial Field was in September 2013, when the 'Cats were 3-1 victors. Harvard most recent win vs. UNH was September 2007 (3-2 at Harvard); the last time the Crimson left Durham with a win was in 2004 (4-0).
Â
The State of New Hampshire: UNH enters Sunday's game with a 1-2 overall record with all three games played at home and all three decided by one goal... The Wildcats are coming off Friday's 3-2 loss to Drexel University in which the 'Cats recorded the edge in both shots (21-10) and penalty corners (11-7)… UNH is averaging 16.0 shots and 7.0 corners per game in comparison to the opponent's 12.3 shots and 5.0 corners.
Â
It Takes Two: New Hampshire's seven goals have been scored by just two players – Lindsey Nerbonne and Ashley Mendonca. Nerbonne potted the team's initial three goals of the season, then Mendonca scored the next three before Nerbonne struck again.
Â
'Cat Nips: Lindsey Nerbonne is the only Wildcat who has recorded a point all three games; in fact, she has scored a goal every game and is the top 'Cat in goals (four), points (eight) and shots (16)… Ashley Mendonca has a two-game goal streak with three goals in that span; the three goals and six points both rank second… Gianna Bensaia has a two-game assist streak with three in that span; she has a team-best three assists.
Â
Career First: Rachel Bossi recorded her first career point Friday vs. Drexel with an assist on Nerbonne's second-half goal.
Â
Scouting the Crimson: Harvard University (Cambridge, Mass.) opened the 2016 season Friday with a 10-round shootout victory, 2-1, at home against Holy Cross. The Crimson struck first in the 14th minute but the teams entered halftime tied at 1, and neither team scored in the second half or 30 minutes of overtime. Harvard recorded the sizable advantage in both shots (23-6) and penalty corners (12-5)... Seniors Marissa Balleza and Kyla Cordrey were both named to the Ivy League Second Team a year ago. Balleza ranks third on the program's all-time points leaderboard with 80 and second in goals (34); she led last year's squad in goals (13), assists (6) and points (32). In goal, junior Olivia Startup, sophomore Libby Manela or freshman Callie Rennyson look to replace the graduated Issy Davies, who started all 17 games last season. Startup played 68:14 in four games, and Manela saw 17:05 of action in two games.
