Grote's Career-High Eight Points Propels Women's Lax Past Holy Cross, 16-6

DURHAM, N.H. – Nicole Grote (Ellicott City, Md.) matched her career highs in both goals (four) and assists (four) to finish with a personal-best eight points and propel the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team to Wednesday afternoon's 16-6 victory against College of the Holy Cross at Cowell Stadium.
The eight points marked the highest total by a Wildcat since April 6, 2013, when classmate Laura McHoul tallied nine points (two goals, seven assists).

GAME RECAP
- Holy Cross struck first on Tess MacKay's goal at 28:37, but UNH rattled off seven consecutive goals to build a 7-1 lead with 8:55 remaining in the first half.
- Nicole Grote (Ellicott City, Md.) ignited the run with a goal at 27:53, then set up a goal at 26:02 and scored consecutive goals 41 seconds apart at 15:12 and 14:31 to push the lead to 5-1.
- Laura McHoul (Westwood, Mass.) and Catherine Sexton (Niskayuna, N.Y.) both tallied a goal and an assist during that decisive run, and both finished the game with four points. McHoul recorded three goals and an assist while Sexton had two of each.
- The Crusaders scored two goals in the last three minutes to close within 7-3 at halftime, then Maddie Ward scored 18 seconds into the second half to trim the deficit to three goals.
- New Hampshire held Holy Cross scoreless the next 26 minutes, however, and scored nine consecutive goals to build a 16-4 advantage.
- The 'Cats quickly regained momentum with four goals in less than five minutes – by McHoul (at 28:49), Krissy Schafer (Longmeadow, Mass.; 26:33), Carly Wooters (White Plains, N.Y.; 24:58) and McHoul (24:07) – to surge to an 11-4 lead.
- Grote's fourth assist set up Devan Miller (Bristol, R.I.) midway through the second half to establish a double-digit lead of 14-4.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- New Hampshire recorded a sizeable advantage in both shots (23-11) and draw controls (18-5). Miller was dominant on the draw with 10.
- The 16 goals marked a season high for the Wildcats, while the six goals marked the lowest output by an opponent.
- Hope Kissick (Cohasset, Mass.) recorded team highs in both ground balls (three) and caused turnovers (two).
- Sarah Lambert (Auburn, N.H.) made her season debut. The sophomore goalkeeper played the final 16:45 of the game. She allowed two goals and was credited with one save.
- Starting goalie Kate Clancy (Barrington, R.I.) earned the win. She stopped four shots in 43:15 of action.
- Carly Wooters (White Plains, N.Y.) scored one goal to extend her goal streak to five games.
- McHoul has tallied an assist all five games this season.
- A total of eight Wildcats recorded a point and five finished with multiple points.
