Schlagel Records Career-High Three Points in 5-2 Win at Merrimack

ANDOVER, Mass. – Amy Schlagel (Blaine, Minn.) recorded a goal and two assists and Jonna Curtis (Elk River, Minn.) scored twice to propel the University of New Hampshire women's hockey team to Friday night's 5-2 win against Merrimack College at Lawler Rink.
UNH extended its unbeaten streak to a season-best three games (2-0-1) to improve to 6-11-1 overall and 5-6-1 in Hockey East. Merrimack, which entered the game on a two-game win streak and three-game unbeaten streak, is now 6-11-2, 2-8-0.
The three points marked a career high and two assists equaled a persona best for Schlagel.Hilary Cashin (Fredericton, New Brunswick) finished with 17 saves while Merrimack counterpart Lea-Kristine Demers stopped 18 shots.

GAME RECAP
- Following a scoreless first period, the teams combined to score four goals in less than nine minutes in the second stanza with UNH taking a 3-1 lead through 40 minutes.
- Curtis, with the assistance of Jenna Rheault (Deering, N.H.), gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead at 6:30.
- Jessica Bonfe tied the score, 1-1, at 10:03.
- UNH responded with goals 76 seconds apart – at 14:01 and 15:17 – to quickly build a two-goal advantage.
- Nicole Dunbar (Coto de Caza, Calif.) scored a goal for the second consecutive game to put the Wildcats back in front to stay, 2-1. Carlee Turner (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and Schlagel were credited with assists.
- Julia Fedeski (Algonquin Highlands, Ontario) scored her fifth goal of the year – fourth on the power play – to extend the advantage to 3-1. Three defensemen recorded a point on the tally with fellow blue liners Schlagel and Marie-Jo Pelletier (Dalhousie, New Brunswick) getting the assists.
- Schlagel's fifth goal of the season -- an unassisted tally -- pushed the lead to 4-1 at 14:47 of the third period.
- The Warriors trimmed the deficit to 4-2 on Dominique Kremer's power-play goal at 17:58.
- Merrimack pulled goaltender Lea-Kristine Demers with 45 seconds remaining, but Curtis deposited the puck into the empty net 11 seconds later to reestablish a three-goal cushion of 5-2 and secure the victory.
