AE Play Resumes at Stony Brook on Saturday (7 PM)

DURHAM, N.H. – The No. 25 University of New Hampshire men's soccer team (9-2-0, 1-0-0 AE) resumes America East Conference play with a Saturday night at Stony Brook University. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
ON THE BALLOT: Senior co-captain Chris Wingate (Hovik, Norway) is a candidate for the Senior CLASS Award. A national committee will select 10 finalists at a later date which is followed by a nationwide vote.
SCOUTING UNH: The Wildcats are coming off a 1-0 defeat at intrastate rival Dartmouth College on Wednesday, Oct. 5 on the road. The game remained scoreless until the 71st minute of play when the Big Green fired a shot past UNH keeper Andrew Pesci (Windham, N.H.) and into the net. It was the first loss for UNH in six games. Pesci made four saves on five shots faced.
The Wildcats are led on offense by sophomore Chris Arling (Windham, N.H.), who has 21 points on 10 goals and one assist. Rookie Jack Dickson (Bournemouth, England) has 12 points stemming from five goals and two assists while Wingate has 10 points on two goals and six assists. Sophomore Alex Valencia (Tracey, Calif.) splits his nine points on three goals and three assists as William Picoux (Lorient, France) has five points on one goal and three assists.
Pesci has an overall record of 9-2-0 in the net for UNH with five shutouts. He has made 39 saves on 47 saves faced for a save percentage of .830 and he has a goals against average of 0.73.
SCOUTING STONY BROOK: The Seawolves come into the match with a record of 5-3-2 overall and a 0-1-0 conference record. They are coming off a 2-1 loss at the University of Vermont on Saturday, Oct. 1. Stony Brook took a 1-0 lead in the 74th minute of play on a goal by Vince Erdei, but Vermont tied the match with 47 seconds remaining and won the game in the 106th minute. Erdei lead the team on offense with 10 points on five goals while Eduardo Valle is second with eight points on four goals. Serge Gamwanya is behind him with six points on a goal and four assists. Goalkeeper Tom McMahon has started all nine games he has played and has a record of 5-3-1 with four shutouts. He has a goals against average of 1.17 and a save percentage of .761.
NEXT UP: The Wildcats return home for a tilt against the University at Albany on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m.
