America East Play Resumes at Hartford on Saturday (7 PM)

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team resumes America East Conference action with a game on Saturday, Oct. 29 at the University of Hartford at 7 p.m.
STUDENT-ATHLETES: Senior co-captain Chris Wingate (Hovik, Norway) and sophomore Chris Arling (Windham, N.H.) were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 1 Team on Thursday, Oct. 27. Wingate, who has a 3.76 grade point average in his field of Finance and Information Systems/Business Analytics at UNH, has 15 points in 2016 with four goals and seven assists. Arling currently holds a GPA of 3.40 in his field of mechanical engineering as a sophomore. This season, he has 25 points on 12 goals and one assist. His 12 goals has him tied for fifth place in the nation in the category. He leads the team with five game-winning goals.
SCOUTING UNH: The Wildcats (11-5-0, 3-2-0 AE) are coming off a heartbreaking 2-1 overtime loss against Harvard University on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at Bremner Field. After a scoreless first half, Harvard's Daniel Smith got the Crimson on the board in the 59th minute of play with a header goal. Wingate tied the game in the 63rd minute of play with his fourth goal of the season while Lalaina Randriamanantena (Auvergne, France) tallied the assist on the play. In the 106th minute, Eric Gylling notched a header goal to lift Harvard to the 2-1 win.
Arling leads the squad in points with 12 goals and one assist for 25 points. Wingate is second with 15 points from four goals and seven assists. Rookie Jack Dickson (Bournemouth, England) has 13 points on five goals and three assists as sophomore Alex Valencia (Tracey, Calif.) splits his nine points on three goals and three assists. Goalkeeper Andrew Pesci (Windham, N.H.) has started all 16 games and has played every minute in net this year. He has a record of 11-5-0 with five shutouts, a goals against average of 0.99 and a save percentage of .800.
SCOUTING HARTFORD: The Hawks (7-7-3, 2-1-2 AE) are coming off a 2-1 overtime win over Yale University on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at home. Hartford got on the board first in the 25th minute of play with a penalty kick goal by Jeff Tryon. Yale got on the board to tie the game in the 70th minute and the two teams went to overtime at the end of regulation. In the 108th minute of play, Tryon scored his second of the night to push Hartford over Yale, 2-1. Keeper Jimmy Slayton made three saves in the game on four shots faced.
Tryon leads the Hawks with six goals on the year for 12 points. Udi Cohen has nine points on two goals and five assists while Andri Jonasson has seven points from three goals and one assist. Slayton has seen most of the action in net for Hartford as he has started 14 of 15 games played. He has a record of 7-4-3 with seven shutouts, a goals against average of 0.86 and a save percentage of .809.
UP NEXT: The Wildcats conclude the regular season with a road tilt at the University of Vermont on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. Information about the America East Playoffs will be posted as it becomes available.
