Final Home Game of Regular Season vs. Harvard on Tuesday (7:30 PM)

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team will host Harvard University on Tuesday, Oct. 25 in the final home game of the regular season at 7:30 p.m.
SCOUTING UNH: The Wildcats (11-4-0) are coming off a 2-1 home victory over previously undefeated UMass Lowell on Sunday, Oct. 23. Senior co-captain Duff Thomson (Greenfield, N.H.) scored his first goal of the season and second of this career in the 37th minute of play to put the Wildcats up 1-0. His goal came as he sent a ball in from outside of the box that took a bounce and past UML keeper Austin Kroll. Fellow senior co-captain Chris Wingate (Hovik, Norway) gave the 'Cats a 2-0 advantage in the 79th minute with his third goal of the season. Wingate was taken down in the box by UMass Lowell and awarded a PK that he converted. Junior goalkeeper Andrew Pesci (Windham, N.H.) made saves on seven of eight shots faced, with UML's goal coming in the 88th minute.
Sophomore Chris Arling (Windham, N.H.) leads the squad in points with 25 on 12 goals and one assist and is tied for fourth in the nation in goals. Wingate and freshman Jack Dickson (Bournemouth, England) are tied with 13 points apiece. Wingate has three goals and seven assists while Dickson has five goals and three assists.
IRON MAN: Junior keeper Andrew Pesci (Windham, N.H.) has started and played every minute of every game, totaling 1351:56. He has five shutouts to go along with his record of 11-4-0.
SCOUTING HARVARD: The Crimson, who are unbeaten in their last seven games, come in with a record of 8-3-2 and are coming off a 3-2 win at Princeton on Saturday, Oct. 22. Taner Dogan gave Harvard a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute of play, but the Tigers took a 2-1 lead after goals in the 11th minute and 26th minute. Jake Freeman tied the game in the 34th minute of play, followed by a goal by Eric Gylling in the 42nd minute to ultimately give Harvard a 3-2 win. Goalkeeper Kyle Parks made three saves on five shots faced and improved his record to 7-3-2.
AMERICA EAST PLAYOFF PICTURE: With UMass Lowell not being able to participate in postseason play due to regulations from going to Division II to Division I, the Wildcats are currently tied with Stony Brook University for second in the America East standings with a conference mark of 3-2-0. With each team having two games left, the Wildcats have guaranteed themselves a spot in the AE Tournament as UMBC has yet to win (0-5-0) in conference play. Tournament play begins on Saturday, Nov. 5 with the fifth seed at the fourth seeded team and the sixth seeded team at the third seeded team, giving the top two teams a first-round bye.
UP NEXT: The Wildcats hit the road for the final two games of the season. On Saturday, Oct. 29, they play at the University of Hartford at 7 p.m. and wrap up the regular season on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at the University of Vermont at 7 p.m.
