Fedeski Scores Twice, Smith Makes 38 Saves in 4-2 Loss at Colgate

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Julia Fedeski (Algonquin Highlands, Ontario) scored a career-high two goals and Kyra Smith (Littleton, Colo.) made a personal-best 38 saves, but the University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team was edged 4-2 by Colgate University in Saturday afternoon's season-opener at the Class of 1965 Arena.

GAME RECAP
- Fedeski gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead at 8:11 of the second period and netted a power-play goal at 3:42 to extend the advantage to 2-0.
- Colgate scored two goals in less than two minutes to tie the score on goals by Zalewski at 6:22 and Hoppner at 8:01.
- Quirion gave the Raiders their first lead of the game, 3-2, at 13:31.
- Colgate immediately went on a power play, but Smith kept the margin at one goal with six saves during the penalty kill.
- Smith was pulled in favor of an extra skater at 18:02 but Sullivan scored an empty-net goal 21 seconds later to extend the advantage to 4-2.
- Smith reentered the game but skated back to the bench with 1:45 remaining. UNH recorded one shot the rest of the way as Colgate held on for the win.
'CAT NIPS
- Jonna Curtis (Elk River, Minn.) matched her career high of two assists. She now has 33 goals and 33 assists for 66 points in 88 career games.
- Fedeski's two points also matched her career high.
- Smith recorded double-digit saves all three periods: 10-13-15; her 38 saves on 41 shots calculates to a .927 save percentage.
