McFadden Collects Three Golds as Men’s Track & Field Defeats Holy Cross, 117-52

DURHAM, N.H. – Senior D'Mahl McFadden (Penacook, N.H.) collected three first place finishes as the University of New Hampshire men's track & field team swept all 17 events against the College of the Holy Cross, Saturday afternoon at the Paul Sweet Oval.
The Wildcats defeated Holy Cross by a score of 117-52. New Hampshire competes again on Friday, Jan. 22 at the Joe Donohue Invitational in Boston.
McFadden took gold in both the 55-meter dash and the 200-meter dash with times of 6.68 seconds and 23.12 seconds, respectively, as well as the 55-meter hurdles (7.87 seconds). In the 200-meter dash, senior Dylan Pelletier (Orford, N.H.) placed second with a 23.84 time followed by senior Christopher DeCarlo (Chester, N.H.) in 23.95 seconds.
Junior Michael Shanahan (Dover, N.H.) placed first in both shot put (49 feet, 5 inches) and weight throw (62 feet, 6.50 inches) for his third and fourth first-place finishes this season in throwing events. He also earned sixth in the shot put at the Jay Carisella (Dec. 12), earlier this season.
Senior Isaiah Penn (Boston) continues his success with a 51.11 second, 400-meter time for first overall. In the 500-meter race, junior Andrew McFarland (Nazareth, Pa.) and senior Tyler Mulcahy (Weymouth, Mass.) claimed first (1:08.95) and second (1:10.12), respectively. Mulcahy also secured gold in the long jump on a career-long 20 feet, 11.25 inches.
Both relay team's placed first as the 4x400-meter group of junior Christopher Poggi (Dover, N.H.), sophomore Thomas Harter (Hampton, N.H.), junior Drew Piazza (Danvers, Mass.) and McFarland finished in 3:28.13 for first place.
The young 4x800-meter group of freshmen Brett Hoerner (Manchester, N.H.), Doug Rose (Dover, N.H.), Cody Symonds (Alton, N.H.) and sophomore William Ulrich (Mineola, N.Y.) placed first with a time of 8:12.80.
The Wildcats took the top-3 times in high jump, led by sophomore Keelan McCoole (Bedford, N.H.) with a height of 6 feet, 4.75 inches. Sophomore Joel Nkounkou (Dover, N.H.) leapt to 6 feet, 2.75 inches followed by freshman Alexander Bice (Natick, Mass.) with a height of 5 feet, 10.75 inches.
