Palmer Finishes Better Than Seeding at NCAA East First Round

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Freshman jumper/sprinter Ethan Palmer (Bowdoin, Maine) of the University of New Hampshire men's track & field team placed 32^nd in the triple jump Friday night at the NCAA East First Round, which was held at the UK Track and Field Complex.

Palmer, who entered the First Round meet as the 38^th seed in a field of 48 competitors, finished 32^nd in the triple jump with a mark of 15.19 meters (49 feet-10 inches). He fouled on his first attempt and then recorded a leap of 14.23m in the second round before recording his top effort of the day on his last jump.

The NCAA East First Round capped a successful rookie 2025-26 track season for Palmer that included breaking the UNH record for the indoor triple jump with a mark of 15.21m (49-11) to win the New England Championship title.

Palmer is the last of three Wildcats on the men's team – and five 'Cats overall – to compete at the NCAA East First Round. Yoofi Abaka-Amuah (Worcester, Mass.) was in both the hammer and shot put, and he was joined in the hammer by Liam McGovern (North Kingstown, R.I.).
